Who is going horseback riding today??

Recommended Posts

I have been so busy with building a new building for my horses along with my everyday work that I have not had a chance to ride any of my horses this summer!!

The other day I had a couple hours at home to myself before I had to go back to work so I thought that I would try riding one of my painted horses.

Since "Lightly Raging" has not been rode since April I thought that I probably should at least try him. I thought that since he was green broke I for sure would have to start over.

I lunged him for alittle bit and seemed to do well... So I went ahead and put the saddle on... He stood like a pro...

I got on next and to my amazement he did great also.

We went for our ride and the only glitch that we had was the fact that he did not want to leave the other horses behind. After a little attitude adjustment he went everywhere that I wanted him to.

He made me very proud of him and I am looking forward to maybe trying him again today for a while.

Are any of you going out for a ride today? Lets hear your story...

Well for the last 2 weekends we got on our horses and rode. The weather was cool but nice. We just purchased a new horse for my wife about 3 weeks ago and she has been loving every ride... Totaly bombproof which is a bonus...

I believe we rode about 2 hours around the farm and a couple miles down the road from our place. All went well until we were finished. We were just about ready to unsaddle the horses when I had the crazy suggestion that my wife try out my horse for a brief ride.

The stupid thing that I did not think about is that my horse is still alittle "green". Well long story short my wife ended up on the ground and ended up with a sore back and shoulders.

Not a great way to end the day.

We have been trying to get out and ride, but it seems like whenever we have time its raining or we have gale force winds.. We leave in about two weeks for elk hunting and are bringing two of the five with to pack out elk/mule deer. Hopefully all goes well!

My wife went to the doc today and thank goodness no broken bones. Just bruised muscles so with a few pain relievers she will be fine.

That sounds like alot of fun to take the horses elk hunting. How long will you be gone and where abouts do you go? I hope you have a great time!!!

Everyone takes two weeks off just in case we dont get nothing right away. And we have cabin in SW Montana. My picture was takin last year on one of the last days we were there. I have 3 dreams in life one was to ride on a white sand beach which I did in Honduras. The other was to ride in the mountains. And the last one I have to fill is to go salmon fishing in Alaska. smile

Well today was a great day to go riding again. Since my gelding is having some soreness in his leg I decided to try working with my quarter horse mare who is somewhat green broke. She totally suprised me by working out like a pro... I couldnt believe it she handled great, went where I wanted her to, and backed whenever I asked her to.

I'm really looking forward to riding again hopefully next weekend...
