Bath tub drain plugged ??

ddsbyday

Question

I seem to remember a post about this topic but I could not find it useing the search method. I believe some people recommended something that you could get at home depot or menards. The problem is the little drain cap. I can't figure out how to get it out. I am sure it is connected to the lever under the faucet. Anyone know of a tool you can slip down the drain leaving the cap attached? Thanks.

I feel your pain. My daughter has hair down to her rump, so the drain has issues all the time. eek

I live by the "Zip-it". I got a couple of them from Menards. THey are always in the plumbing dept. and once and a while by the checkout. They are about 18-20" long, white plastic. It looks like a evil torcher divice version of a zip tie. Stick it down the drain, shimmy it a little, and pull it out. eeksickeek Not for the faint of heart of stomack. Works like a charm though. Only like $1-2 but worth every penny. cool

Guys, The Zip-it IS a GREAT tool!! What you NEED to do is educate the ladies of the household HOW TO USE IT!! I showed them how easy it was to use and how much better the shower drained after it was used, now when the shower starts to drain slowly they just Zip-it clean and go on!! My hair is less than a 1/4" so we were SURE I wasn't the cause gringrin. They like the fact that they're not standing in the 'dirty' water too! Phred52

I'm a plumber and I can work with anything and it normally wont bother me but something about that slimy ball of hair kinda gets to me some times I swear they growl and try to run away when you remove them. But I carry a zip it in the service van and works great.
