Rain-X on Electronics

HugoBox

Recommended Posts

Try putting Rain-X on the screens of your electronics if the dried water spots give you fits. Between water dripping from the reel and the lures between casts the electronics on the bow can be a mess. Cleaned them and added Rain-X and so far its 100% better.

I hope this doesn't violate some sort of advertising restriction on this sight - I don't work for the company or know anyone who does - just wanted to share a solution with you.

Vinegar and water will remove existing spots. After you do that, go and buy a high quality screen saver...you can find exact fit screen savers for all the depth finders on HSO-Classifieds. Not only can I wipe water spots off with just my finger now, the screen saver really cuts on the glare as well and makes it much easier to read in bright sunshine.

Personally I'm not a fan of screen savers. I've never used them on my own units but have used units that have them on. I think they're harder to read, and I've seen two units where the sun melted the screen saver to the screen and then you're looking at a real mess, and replacing or repairing the unit. They weren't in my boat so I don't know what they used for screen savers or where they got them. But for me, I'll stick with the occasional cleaning with vinegar and water.

I also use my spray bottle with vinegar and water to give the boat a quick wipe-down, it's great at taking off the water spots and letting the shine come through laugh
