shizzy
My new work schedule kind of has me perplexed. I work 6PM to 3AM and Im wondering how this is going to effect fishing this winter. I have always been a casual fisherman and got on the ice between 7-8am and am rarley out past sundown. Is hitting the Ice at about 4AM too early? I figure work till 3, grab my gear and have a line wet by 4AM and fish till about 8-9AM and head home for some sleep.
wplatehunter
Sounds like a good plan to me. There will not be much traffic on the lake at 4am. Good Luck.
GRH
perfect, lakes are nice and quit, and the fishing can be excellent.
WTN4ICE
It's never too early to wet a line. We all have to earn a living so we have to fish when we can. Some of my best fishing has been during the light change period AM or PM.Watching the sun come up on a frozen lake you have to yourself....thats good stuff right there. motley man
Early morning has always been good for me. That time of day when the sun first comes up.
slurpie
Alot of books and magazines say the bite also last longer in the morning hours. But depending on lake type and snow cover the bite may start at 9 am. I used to stay in a sleeper house on a shallow dirty lake, people would come early and leave 30 min after sun up. But the water was still dark. Something to think about.
DoubleLunger
Youll be out there the best hours of the day. RIP SOME LIPS
joneshat11
The best time to fish is when you can fish!!! No two ways about that!!
JimBuck
Yeah I would welcome the change. Less traffic and competition. Nothing like being out there for sunrise either.
ec30_06
4am till just after sunrise is a great time for eyes' and crappies.
FasterThanYou23
Thats the best time of the day to be out there IMO
fishinJohn
Probably the coldest time to bout as well. Difficult to fish with a buddy so I wouldn't push my luck with early/late ice with your schedule.
Fuzzbient
I've always had great luck with crappies at sunrise and pike shortly after sunrise in the winter. Morning is my favorite time of day to hit the lake. You'll do well!
Blainebob
What about fishing BEFORE work, say 2-5ish? Remember,it gets darker much earlier, the sun gets to the treetops by 3:30, I've had my best crappie success from then till
