totally_addicted
My buddy and I were out last night and he finally put a good shot on his first archery deer. He was somewhat disappointed that he had taken a little buck, but it was his first archery deer in his 3rd or 4th season hunting. He deserved to finally put some meat in the freezer! I told him, "Any deer this late in the season is a trophy, plus it's your first one!" After a little bit, he forgot about the size and we celebrated the harvest with a few beers and a story we'll share forever! So happy I was able to put him on his first archery deer. We hunt on a golf course and his "shot" ended up in the rough... Hence the drop area sign!
Mr Special
congrats to you and ur buddyany deer with a bow is a trophy, esp this late into the season.before i read ur post, i was wondering what the "Drop Area" was about and if it was a golf course. lolkudos again

Archerysniper
Montana whitetail, one of the 50 that came through that night. And just average muley bucks for my area, they only give out 45 tags for this zone. We ran into a few I thought were elk at first glance of their antlers. Popular Post Dave
After passing on several close doe opportunities in 2014, during his 1st year as a bow hunter, my younger son decided to get his 1st bow harvest under his belt on the evening of the 2015 opener. Popular Post Bass Whacker
I have been hunting hard for the last two years, and it paid off Friday at about 5:30 with my first ever deer. Bass Whacker
Thanks guys! I had MANY, MANY hours running trail cameras, and doing all day sits in the stand trying to catch up to a big one. That also meant passing on a bunch of young bucks, which I often kicked myself for. It's always nice when your hard work pays off. Good luck to everyone during the rest of the season. Popular Post 1eyeReD
Shot this buck on Sunday at 8:30am. Came with a smaller 8pt shortly after a quick rattle sequence. I passed the on the smaller buck at 20 yds, then this guy waltzed through at 40 yds, never gave me a shot while ignoring grunts and can-calls then showed up at my friend's stand 300 yds away about 20 min later. It never presented my friend a shot either and made a full circle back to me about close to an hr later, upwind and broadside at 25 yds. Not quite one of the bigguns I had on trail cam, but I don't care... I was presented a great shot on a great public land buck and I couldn't be happier about the buck and the shot I made as I watched him drop within 50 yds of the shot. This is actually my biggest bow-buck to date so I just dropped it off at my local taxidermist for a European mount. Lunker
This weather has been brutal for our WI hunt this week. Had some encounters but haven't gotten the opportunity to draw back on anything yet. Also had a big 10 under my stand the one night I was in a different one.... My brother was successful yesterday on one of the properties I hunt here, grunted a nice 8 to 40 and made a great shot. Thought I'd post this recovery picture of me, never had to track/recover through a river before but I knew it would happen eventually on this property. 1eyeReD, NELS-BELLS, DonBo and 1 other

Popular Post Chad06
Rattled this nice 8 in on Nov. 5th to harvest with my bow. Best hunt ever! I had a nice 10 point at 36 yards with no good shot, I decided to rattle 15 minutes later and a 6 point came in. I was just thinking to myself "that's it" where did that 10 go? Then all the sudden I hear a branch break behind me and this guy comes in looking for a fight. Stopped him at 20 yards and made a perfect double lung shot on him. He leaped forward and stopped, didn't even know he was hit. He proceeded to chase the 6 point and started tumbling. He went 60 yards and I thought he went down but all the sudden I saw a big buck standing there and then walked into my neighbors property. It was raining that morning and thought I may loose blood. My cousin came over about an hour later to help track, started down the trail to where I last saw him and looked up and there he was. The other buck I saw must have been the first buck "the 10". Hope he makes it to hunt next fall! Edited November 24, 2015 by Chad06 ozzie, walleyehunter02, DonBo and 3 others
