Screwless aluminum siding?

Recommended Posts

3-M VHB tape, it's a double sided tape that has been used in the trucking world for a while. It comes 1"x36 yards long, about $41 a roll. I will be using it on my new house.

So I assume its placed on the outside of all the wood studs and then between sheets of aluminum at the seams? Any local suppliers carry it?

Just googled it. Did you mean VHB tape?

Ken,

Did you start building your house yet? It sounds like it is going to be great...

Not sure when you are going to be making it up to Gogebic, just keep me posted. I am going to be buying a new Canvas Craft insulated with the tub and seat and was wondering maybe if you could pick it up for me when you make a trip. I was sent a estimate on shipping and it would be almost $100.

Yes It VHB tape. If you go on their web site there are a number of places. Make sure you look for places that sell part cases. I paid $41 a roll.

We will coming in Janary to LG. I can and will bring it then if thats not to late. We talked not going to lake of the woods this year and coming out there. You have my email and phone #, let me know. About 3 weeks field work, will turn to high gear until Thanksgiving. The fish house has been in slow mod as of late, a 6" grinder got away from me and cut 2 tendons and nicked 2 more. I am starting to get all movement back, but no strength yet, slow going. Let me know.

Not sold on anything with tape or glue in MN with the rough roads on the lake.

I'm guessing it might hold up for awhile... but when it doesn't then what?

Rip the whole shack apart? I'm a firm believer in good screws!

I am in the planning stages of building an 8'x18' tandem. I would like to hear more for sources of smooth trailer siding. Willing to pay to do it right just would like to know where you guys got good quality! How about tape, and just a few screws for insurance?

Glue or tape is the only way to go. The stuff they can do with chemicals these days is rediculous! The aluminum will tear before the glue or tape will fail, and it will never break down... not before the rest of your house does anyway.

    • Results are out!!    Did not pull a tag this year. Maybe a surplus tag in my future...
    • American Redstart was back and catching bugs by the hostas !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  (those ! are for you smurf ) He let me get pretty close.
    • Congrats on MN and WI   It's been a great spring and the birds just seem to be getting fired up even more now.
    • could be interesting for ya!!!!!!!
    • I think I am done for the year.  Wisconsin was a success for me these past few days, but not so much for the rookies I took with.    I called in a nice 24lb bird with 1" sharp spurs and 10" beard on Friday.  The weather really shut them down after that.  Finally Sunday morning in the rain showers they came out and put on a show for four hours, but the big tom just would not come in close enough for a shot.  Hens dragged him by me one time with a few second opportunity to decide if I should try to stretch the range of my gun, but I held off thinking they would come a few steps further...  They did not...  He had spurs easily over 1", never gobbled, just strutted and drummed around the field all morning.
    • Very nice birds!
    • I'm going to hit it hard looking this week. I promised batter fried Morels for Memorial day lunch with the smoked pulled pork I made. 😬
    • No luck with morels near La Crosse these past few days.  Found some ramps and lots of pheasant back / Dryad saddle.
    • We finished up the seasons with 3 great birds. All 3 had 1 1/4 spurs 11 inch beards and one with 11.5. Two birds weighing in at 23 lbs and the other 22. This year we had gobbling like in the past . These last 5 years has been very minimal gobbling if none at all some years. This year was similar to when we started hunting these farms. The high predator population is why i think they do not gobble as much. Even this spring had a yote mess up a bird walking right in to me he was in killing distance but I was liking the show so let him keep coming my error. Yote came running in and chased him off :(. But we did end up shooting this bird Friday morning. So he only was saved once.   See what happens this weekend. I'm supposed to take a buddy out hunting in MN but if that falls through maybe make one more run to WI.
