spivak
Any hints on materials or method to use in quieting a noisy drop-away rest? Thanks

DonBo
If it's the rest slapping the shelf on release just get some mole skin from the drug store. If it's something in the mechanics of the rest itself you may want to replace it.
Stratosman
Moleskin is the cure for many problems....
delmuts
I tried the mole skin, but needed a little more padding, so i took a pc. of the adheasive backed insulation that they us for toppers. This is a little thicker, and solved my noise problem.

Jmnhunter
is the rest not set as high as it should be from the shelf?
sticknstring
Sounds like you fixed the problem. Otherwise Sims makes a product specifically designed for your need. It's a fall away drop pad, a small stiff rubber with dimples that adheres to the riser shelf. I've put 2 or 3 on in the past year - they work as intended.
