charliepete
Glad to see this post still kicking around. I've been enjoying my unit all Fall and Winter. With the great battery life and reception of 76 CSX I've been leaving it turned on in my pocket as I grouse, deer, and pheasant hunt. Every couple of weeks I pull my track logs into google earth and it shows me a detailed trail of every place I've been laid over sattelite photos. It's really helped me develope a better awareness of some of my big woods hunting areas and other likely spots to try. Using this unit with google earth is simple as can be.This winter I've really enjoyed the lakemaster maps as I've ice fished. After importing some waypoints from my old units I was surprised to find that I wasn't 'where I thought I was' on a few of my marked spots (but I was still catching fish anyhow).Somone asked if I find the unit too bulky? I wondered about that when deciding between the 60csx and hte 70csx. So far I'm happy with my choice. I picked up a ram mount for my 4-wheeler and I highly suggest it. It holds the unit snug as can be, and you'll never try steering one handed again after using it.
croixflats
Does anyone know if you can interface the 76 with GPS/Chartplotter sonar using the seriel port. Looking for a way to transfer my way points to my boat Garmin sonar.
croixflats
If any one is interested you can interface with a chartplotter but you cant transfer data this way. The interface through the serial port by means of NEAMA lets you see data like depth and water temp but no graph. To transfer way points you have to download to map scource than to a blank card/chip then card to chartploter. Thankfully the 76 comes with a blank chipMan this customer service Garmin has is awesome 3 to 5 minute wait and every question asked and answered clearly and accurate.
