scott-z
I am going to be going to Canada in a couple of weeks and was wondering about bringing my 12 year old son across the border. I have crossed before with his birth certificate and a letter from his mom. Is this still acceptable or is he required to have a passport also? How about getting back into the U.S.? Does anyone have the phone numbers that would put me in touch with both Canada and U.S. Customs? Thanks!

Shorelunch
A passport isn't required until they're older. A letter from the mother isn't required because they're with a parent - but it couldn't hurt just to be sure. The only time you need a letter is when they're crossing with a non-parent. winniewalleye777
You will be fine doing the same as before. The recording says he will not need a passport. A letter might be good just to be sure.
