herefish101
Has any one ever herd of un weldabe aluminum? I bought an old (1980) Sylvan and found a crack about 12 inches long in the splash rail on the starboard side. I called a local boat repair shop and the guy i talked to said that in 1980 sylvan used an aluminum that was unweldabe? I diddent think there was such a thing. I know there are different alloys, but un weldable? can anyone recomend a viable fix for this or is the guy i talked to crazy? any info on this would be much appreciated. thanks. Jim Uran
Look it up on the net, I just read some good info on it. There were a few alloys made that are "unweldable". Rivoting is the best bet.
PierBridge
I've seen Goop do some amazing things on Aluminum boats.Might be an option depending on the where the crack is..
