What kind of compression you gettin Chris? Gonna check that tomorrow night. Should have done it tonight but after pulling the flywheel (which was an act of gymnastics and weightlifting in itself) and inspecting and removing the stator, and then putting it all back together to not accomplish anything. I said screw it and mixed up a Captain. The puzzling thing is the motor starts and runs great, it just has an audible, repetitive knock which scares me. Ah heck... I'm going out and turning it over with the gauge. Will report back.
hanson
What kind of compression you gettin Chris? #1 (top) = 130#2 (bottom) = 125Pulled it 3 times each cylinder. Not sure what spec is but thats pretty dang good IMO for a motor this age.My big concern is crank bearing or a rod needle bearing. There aren't that many things left in a motor that move. Top end is good based on compression.
