Your state's farm credit agency.  They cannot be beat because they operate under coop rules with federal protections.

    What type of solution?

Not it directed at you personally but I find it amusing that by and larger hunters and fishermen are the most anti government anti regulation types yet are the first to overharvest due to lack of self control and then are the first to Beyotch when the DNR doesn’t stop it.

I always thought this to be true, until I was up on Winnie last year.  In the middle of the day a very skilled DNR officer came flying up from directly in front of my house (blind side), parked 5' from my door, and was out of his truck before it even stopped moving.  He was looking in the windows literally instantly.  Once he saw I had 1 line down, checked my license and nearly empty fish bucket, he was on his way to blind side the next house.  It was kind of cool watching him...he was quite strategic about it.

Paradice reacted to nofishfisherman in Would You Sell It All For Your Own Pond?
One thing to consider if you plan to ice fish on the pond is ice safety.  With a small pond you may end up needing some sort of aeration to protect your investment from winter kill.  That could make the ice sketchy if you plan to fish it.
The pond I mentioned previously is spring fed and is a little over an acre with max depth in 2 spots around 11 feet.  With the springs feeding the pond I would not feel comfortable out on the ice based on the conditions I've seen.  Wouldn't be worth the risk to catch the same fish I know I can catch all summer long.

You can box about everyone into one of four buckets:

    True sportsman/conservationists
    Low impact off/on participant
    Raging hypocrites
    Shameless looters

Attempting to save the lakes in MN from collapse is a waste of time.  You'd have a better chance at good fishing again if you'd let them get fished and netted to collapse where meaters go and get skunked time and time again and quit coming.  It wouldn't shock me if the DNR wanted to see the lakes collapsed in an effort to save them from water quality degredation, invasive species, and littering.

The best fishing I ever had on Red was when it was just coming back from the collapse before the limits were rich enough to draw the meaters.  I imagine Mille Lacs will be the same.

Great post. There is no shame in wanting to harvest a fair share of fish. And you are correct that not harvesting enough can lead to overpopulation.

Could be the pollinator lobby because deer eat all the flowers
Could be the moose lobby because deer are the single biggest moose predator
Could be the clean water lobby because deer overgraze stream banks
Could be the CO2 lobby because deer fart much like cows
Could be the insurance lobby because deer hurl themselves at cars like World War Z zombies
Could be the farm lobby because deer take 31% off the state corn and soybean yield each year
Could be the duck lobby because deer eat baby ducks (google it)
Could be the forestry lobby because deer pushed NAFTA causing cheap canadian forest products to displace MN loggers
Could be the media getting back at gun toting Trumpsters

Here's a shot of ours from opening weekend.  Lots of the same.  Tops going fast, bulbs getting chewed, and even some popped out of the ground and carried off the plot and dropped.

I agree with you completely.  The problem is a great majority of deer hunters have zero idea what the deer herd looks like in their areas from year to year.  All they know is the DNR sold them a license and/or a bonus tag, therefore its "ok" to fill them.

The deer holocaust brought our buck/doe ratio to about as good as you can get in a wild herd, but now with  conservative doe harvest and 480,000 buck tags for 300,000 bucks in the deer population, the buck doe ratio will take a hit along with any sort of age class of bucks except for zone 3 where they actually have deer management.

it'll be exactly where they expect it to be, just like it is every year.  When you control the data, it can say whatever you want.

We're close.  Probably make the call tomorrow on my way outta Dodge.  We got most of our chainsaw work done today and have a good grasp on where we're planting come spring.  Looking like we're going to get three flats of 4a plugs.  1 norway spruce, 1 black hills spruce, and 1 blue spruce possibly.  If we can find another wet tolerant spruce other than black, that'll be what we get in place of the blue.

We have one new trail to clear tomorrow in preparation for brush hogging in spring.  Just gotta get the junk off it that the brush hog can't handle.  We saved most of our basswood cutting for spring to try and hinge them down.  The ones we saved are just in the areas we're not planting back tight with spruce.

Paradice got a reaction from smsmith in Your Zone, Observations, & Mgmt Opinion
We just wrapped up our season last night.  Some rays of hope, but we've still got cultural problems.  On our 40, we've taken one deer in three years.  The 40 next to us, 6 antlerless deer were shot, and 3 of them were recovered this year, despite zero tags awarded via lottery.  One of the does wounded lives on our property most of the time.  I had to watch her gimp around yesterday with a rear hoof that is now folded under and with two fawns still in toe.
The takeaway here is to make sure kids can shoot accurately and know their effective range before you take them out.  That first deer can quickly become their last hunt if they are traumatized by a fawn bawling in the bush with a leg blown off.

My first flasher was a used FL8.  It was a good unit.  I replaced it with a marcum VX1.  Had that about ten years I figure.  Love it and I don't have any issues with it.  It will cross signals with a vexilar.  My brother has a hummingbird and we never get interference.

Take all that with a grain of salt.  I'm not up on the latest gizmos with flashers.  My tells me how deep it is, bottom locks, and shows me fish.  Not sure what else there is.

Curious if anyone on here is a habitat junkie when it comes to deer.  Our season wraps up Sunday evening and we're kicking off 2016 first thing Monday morning with the chainsaws getting prepped for bedding improvement, knocking some food from the sky, and making space for a big spruce planting come spring.  I'd put this over in the habitat section, but there's not much action over there.
