  1. Their are some funny stories out their but pathogen your story about old Roy has to be the funniest thing I've read in a long time. The one in the mine pits not a far second. The best thing about the "Roy" story is that I think we all know a "Roy" or two. It is just so funny to imagine that happening and the reaction of Roy watching his house go up in flames as he is standing their naked! This story definitely needs to go into some hunting and fishing magazines!!! Thanks for the great laughs, I feel as though I personally know Roy.

Off Topic: Way to go T-Wolves!

City slicker you are exactly correct!! It makes you wonder what the wolves have to do to get a little respect in this caucas_ _ _ town? The lady gophers get more ink than the T-wolves. They are a great story and have local talent, but please?! The wild, (nice name by the way?) may not even make the playoffs, much less be one of the top 3 teams in their game. Again, game- if you can call it that seems like an awful lot of "wild" luck to me.

    Line test strength for perch?

I have 2 lbs. test line on my rods for crappies and sunfish and was just wondering if this is strong enough for jumbo perch on Mille Lacs. Any replies would be greatly appreciated.

City slicker, you are absolutely correct!!!! The wild, (nice name by the way ?) may not even make the playoffs, it's pathetic.

Absolutely correct people!!! How they fly under the radar screen by the local media is beyond me, it is almost insulting! Luckily the players on the team probably do not pay much attention to the media or lack of it and go about thier business and are getting the job done. This is a fun team to watch they have great leadership by some great veterans! They will be a force to be reckoned with! I'll see ya at some games this year! Lets get the Target rockin!!!!
  8. Labs4me, I agree with you don't be so defensive!! I never said I had a problem with these devices. I said I think these devices in no way "harm" a dog, unless obviously it is used in the wrong manner. It seems to me you may be ASSuming that I have a problem with people using these as training devices. That is absolutely NOT the case! From my experiences in the field with my dog and other, "professionally," trained dogs that have these devices on it is six of one and a half a dozen of the other, (if you know what that means). It means they are not tatamount to having a great dog. I understand "professionals" use them I grew up about five miles from a well renowned trainer, (actually has many articles in local outdoors periodicals) that does use them. I have no basis to question the fact that he does use them and why he chooses to use them. I do know this if enough time is spent with the dog and some basic things are done with the dog at a young enough age these devices are absolutely not necessary. What did people do before these were invented? I am sure the quality of hunting dog before these things were invented pales in comparison to present time field "wizards" ?? In fact I will have one wrapped around my dogs neck when we are afield next year, if things go as planned I can have her make me a sandwich and fetch me a soda after the hunt!!
  9. Whitetip is exactly correct. I do not think that people that use these devices in any way harm the dog's, (or at least 90% of them). I have been hunting with people that have them on their dogs, and people that don't have them on. Yheir is not a huge difference in the field. My cousins that are avid hunters have used them but no longer do. They still hunt with people that do it is a personal choice. If you work with the dog enough no matter how "knuckleheaded," the dog is a collar as this is absolutely unnecessary. Ninety percent of this is obedience training at a very young age, NOT hunting training obedience training. The hunting part of things have been there and will be there. I live in South Minneapolis and have a black lab that I have trained myself. Ninety percent of the training was done in the city limits taking the dog for walks on a leash and getting the dog used to commands that would be used in the field, (only a couple to keep it simple). I spent a day or two exposing the dog to gun sounds and equating that sound to fun, animals, retrieving, etc. Shock collars are not bad, but by no means are necessary!!

    Packers! Packers!...

Onthewalleyes, (catchy name by the way). I do want the vikings to win the superbowl, what true vikings fan doesn't? I will support them in the good and bad times PERIOD. I make no apologies, as I am sure the fans over the years make no apologies for suporting the team even in the immediate years after they lost superbowls. I do agree 100% about defense, look at teams that made it to the past superbowls-those defenses were great. I just get tired of people bashing Moss and Culpepper two of the best athletes in the game and two of the best at their position. In a way I envy packers fans and see why a lot of Minnesotans start to cheer for them. What's not to respect, the fans support them in the good ANDDDD bad times! My life does not revolve around this. I am just here for the ride, I am happy when they do good and if they don't do good I just go ice fishing, (a good remedy for me). Have a good day.

    Packers! Packers!...

Any clown that questions Donte Culpepper has no business being a vikings fan. The packers fans are right about one thing they stick with their team, coaches, players, defense, etc through good and bad. I am a lifelong vikings fan and appreciate that we have some things to work on, but I will always support them. I also appreciate the good things we have. The best quarterback in the league for how long he has been in the NFL!!!!!!

    Packers! Packers!...

Leaky, it is nice to see a fellow outdoorsperson with some intelligence and a sense of fairness. The vikings are a good team that has a lot of potential to be great, just a few pieces to the puzzle. For all of those that do not realize how important it is for this team to have Moss and Culpepper, and how good they really are, do everybody a favor: do not support the team, do not pretend to support the team, go on about your business. True fans do not need your type around and if rooting for the home team vikings is so painful do not do it, contrary to what you may believe you will NOT!!! bemissed.

    Packers! Packers!...

As much disdain as I have for packers fans, I cannot bash them. The biggest reason to bash them Especially coming from Minnesota is the loyalty, support, and patients they show for their team, coaches, players, etc. I am a diehard vikings fan and will always dislike the packers, but their are some things about them I have got to respect. I have a much deeper dislike for anybody that calls themselves a true vikings fan and constantly bashes the best players on the team. These same people constantly bash the coaching staff. Being critical is one thing, these palyers can handle that since the old excuse is that if they are making a mill$ they should be able to take any and all abuse. It is the clowns that do not look at improvement, do not look at such things as total supporting cast, coaching, (most penalized team in NFL, ya your going places?), etc... I am not even a huge football fan but at least I can say I support them in good AND bad times. I can say my ankles are fine as I stay ON the bandwagon. I can say that it could be worse, their are other teams, cities, franchises, etc... that have it worse. If we don't suppor them up here thair are a lot of other cities that would love to have sports franchises. Appreciate what you have!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Packers! Packers!...

You clowns that are bashing Moss and Culpepper are nothing but red_ _ _ _ _. Are they perfect, no unfortunately, these two football players will never be as good as the people that bash them want them to be. Look at how long it took some of the greats to become greats, look at the supporting casts these people had. Look at players such as Sanders, Payton, etc... that played for perennial losers. They had stats but the "teams," did not win the big games. Funny, these "individuals" were never blamed for that. If Moss and Culpepper leave that you will have a legitimate reason to jump off the bandwagon, yet again- - - who needs ya?
