  1. I go to bed early and can't fall asleep and wake up before my alarm after years of tournaments. I get more excited as years go by.
  2. I just fished in the Indianhead bassers St.Croix tournament this past Sunday and had a great time. The bite was slow to say the least but a 10 fish limit came in to win that weighed over 24 lbs. Most boats came in with 0 to 3 smallmouth. I was wondering if anyone knows of any other bass tournaments coming up in Minnesota or Wisconsin?

    Keeping BASS Dillemma

The reason I posted was in reference to another post bragging about catching Bass while fishing for panfish and the poster said (I don’t give a rip what anyone thinks) The attitude displayed in that sentence was the reason and no other. We have all caught out of season species while fishing panfish through the ice but to brag about it and tell everyone you are going back to do it again is not catching them by accident. I for one never keep Bass but the law states you can keep them and I do not have a problem with that. I have fished many Bass tournaments in the Midwest and the Southwest and the attitudes of the hundreds of Bass fisherman I have met all exude the love and respect of the sport of fishing. To bad all people who fish don’t have that attitude. I am a firm believer of catch and release and I do practice it with all species of fish. I like to fish for gravel lizards (walleyes) in the spring and I fish for panfish in the winter like most all Bass fishermen. The statement made by another poster (These one species wonders are just a touch over the top) is just a jealous attack on Bass fisherman. Apparently you are a expert multi-species fisherman. You should enter a tournament and show those one species wonders a thing or two on how to catch those Bass. ------------------ Fishin's the fun part catchin them is a bonus! Keeping BASS Dillemma

Thanks for your post huskiesplayer15 I was just reading a thread titled [The Basspoacher Strikes again] and some of their attitudes made me sick. It seems some people come on the internet and pretend they are fisherman when in reality they are just bottom feeders. A real Bass fisherman respects the laws. The laws are made and enforced for a reason but the bottom feeders feel that they are above the law and feel they have to do such things to make up for their lack of talent. Catching Bass or any other species of fish when the season is closed is called PRACTICE FISHING. And I am not talking about catching them by accident. People who catch and kill trophy size fish are not fisherman they are freezer stockers and bottom feeders and don't respect the sport of Bass fishing. ------------------ Fishin's the fun part catchin them is a bonus! New Bass Pro Shops Catalog

basspastor Backwards assessment of the way economics work and businesses are run? Perhaps you are the one that is backwards. I have seen people like you come into my store and think the world owes them something,As you stated. Why do you think anyone owes you? I bet you have led your whole life with that attitude. It's to bad that people like you even fish. ------------------ Fishin's the fun part catchin them is a bonus! ((TIP) "Turn In Poachers" 1-800-652-9093 24 Hours a Day_365 Days a Year

    New Bass Pro Shops Catalog

It's a sad thing indeed to read about all the excitement over a Mega-stores catalog. All they want from you is your money. I think about all the small tackle shops struggling to survive and compete with them. I will bet a lot of you when you travel to unknown areas stop at these shops to get advice on the local fishing areas. Try that at bass pro shops. There is nothing that is in the Mega-stores catalog that if not available from the small stores that they can't order for you. I know you may pay a little more but it's sad to see the small shops disappear in the years to come because of this. I for one will miss the small tackle and bait shops we have enjoyed for many years. ------------------ Fishin's the fun part catchin them is a bonus! "In the slop" bass

I get excited even reading about slop fishin. What I like most is a lot of bass fisherman don't even bother with it. If you see a boat sitting in the middle of the thickest nastiest slop on the lake with a guy smiling it might be me. ------------------ Fishin's the fun part catchin them is a bonus! Smallie tourney in Anoka!!!

Well BigLakeBa$$ It was one of the first money tournaments I ever fished. And we got to thinking that a bird in hand was worth two in the bush and came in a weighed our fish. I have long since learned differently.

    JIGGLESTICKS

I never use a reel on my panfish sticks under 20 feet of water. Most fishing for Big bluegills is done in less than 10 feet of water. I build my own graphite jig sticks with cork handles and wood pegs to hold the line. They are VERY sensitive with 2 lb test line. I can not understand why anyone would want a bulky reel to make fishing faster? I think it's a lot more fun to pull them up by hand. I see the trend is using heavy rods and reels to crank them in FAST and a Camera so you can see them bite. I wonder where the term Fishing ever went. ------------------ Fishin's the fun part catchin them is a bonus! ((TIP) "Turn In Poachers" 1-800-652-9093 24 Hours a Day_365 Days a Year

    Warning about Thorne Bros Rods

I use electrical tape on my summer rods also. Using all cork handles are very comfortable and warm when its cold. It works great and no bulky reel seats. ------------------ Fishin's the fun part catchin them is a bonus! ((TIP) "Turn In Poachers" 1-800-652-9093 24 Hours a Day_365 Days a Year

    Smallie tourney in Anoka!!!

I fished the first Smallmouth Tournament they had in 1989. We took 3rd place with 8lb 7oz. and came in 3 hours before we needed to. Live and learn. That is a fun tournament. I think I will get in this year. ------------------ Fishin's the fun part catchin them is a bonus! ((TIP) "Turn In Poachers" 1-800-652-9093 24 Hours a Day_365 Days a Year
