sprinkler system/dirty water

braves57

Question

Anyone know why the water in my house would look "dirty" any time my sprinkler system is run? It started happening last year, didn't happen the first three years.

One company I called blamed it on the changes in water pressure when the system is run, stirring up sediment in the water lines...

The toilet water looks real dirty and the faucets look cloudy...

Any experts on here?

Thanks!

1st and foremost, I'm not an expert. One possibility may be that your anti-siphon valve (back flow preventer) may not be working properly and some of the sediment in the sprinkler lines may be mixing back in with the house water. I think that is the purpose of that valve, to prevent water from flowing back into the house water system from the sprinkler system. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.
