SimilarIsland
What would the best oil be for this motor? Is it worth using a synthetic or any of the "fancy" oils? Would they cut down on smoking? Thanks,Similar Island
Cast A Way
Evinrude/Johnson XD30 will do just fine. The key is oil rated TCW3 if you choose a different make.
theoilman
A 1976? Wasn't that before oil injection? AMSOIL will definitely reduce smoke! And reduce emissions (65% reduction or more)! And reduced oil slick! And reduce engine wear - double engine life! And eliminate carbon buildup! And eliminate spark plug fouling!Pre-mix, use AMSOIL Saber Outboard and you can use it as lean as 100-1And the price isn't bad - $10.10 sugg retail per qt to mix 25 gallons of gas. Wade Joseph
I am not an amsoil dealer and recommend the amsoil oil. My 75 ficht runs all summer on one gallon of HP injector oil, while other guys I know are going thru 2 and 3 gallons of Quicksilver or Evenrude oil.
