Replacing Rod Tip

4 posts in this topic

I am converting one of my older salmon casting rods to a wire line rod trolling rod and have a roller tip to put on. What is the best way to get the current tip off? Apply heat? Or cut it off right behind the tip to put the new one on? The rod has no real value as it is quite old but certainly not a collector if that helps.

Thanks,

Steve

Use heat, it shouldn't take too much to break it loose. I use a bic and heat it just enough to loosen it up a bit.

Yep just heat, usually the tips are just applied using a hot melt glue.
