Another gun bill???

10 posts in this topic

Another great reason to belong to the NRA as they always go to bat for the gun owners.

Wihtout the NRA I do believe we would have lost a few years ago already.

My wife and I both belong.

I think there was already another thread on HR 45...I think this is the same one that was discussed a month or two ago.

No co sponsors, its just political [PoorWordUsage], probably pushed by gun dealers organizations to incite people to pay anything for guns and ammo... fallow the $$$$$$$$$$$$ to the local gun show and listen to them get each other worked up so you'll blow double the money for surplus limitless ammo for .223 and 7.62 as well as any gun or clip they convinced themselves is going to be banned by the boogieman.

Not that we should rest on our laurels but I read an article in a national news magazine that was refreshing.

It was about how some of the anti's in the Dem party are getting frustrated the party isn't pushing harder for new gun laws while they have the chance.

According to the article, the current administration campaigned that Obama wouldn't take the guns and for now they are letting that promise stand.

The two reasons given were the general populous has voiced their stance against gun bans so they see this as a battle they won't win any time soon.

The second reason was they have bigger fish to fry citing most of their efforts should be spent dealing with the economy.

I dunno, sounded too good to be true...... for gun owners anyway.

I know I will get attacked here but some of this makes sense.

-If I need a licesnse to drive why not a license to use a gun. We already require unters safety to hunt that should meet that requirment.

-i just bought a gun and had to sign that i was able to purchase one so I guess if they want they can check up on this so another requirment met.

-Gun came in a lockable case another requirment met.

-finger prints on file with state since i applied for teaching licsence 15 yrs ago another requirment met

-I guess if I shoot someone with said gun the lawyers will try to subpeona any medical records/testimony saying Im psycho so another requirment will be met.

So i guess this bill is redundant so it will not pass if any lawmaker looks at it hard enough.

Can someone explain why the govt really needs to know whether a law abiding citizen has a gun or not? The criminals sure as heck aren't about to license themselves to carry a gun and that is who they need to be concerned about.

They would be better off spending the time and efforts on enforcing the laws we have on the books instead of adding more.

Lawmakers read bills now? I think they disproved that notion when the signed the Stimulus bill. laugh

    • Talked to one of their guys at the Ice Show last week,  what I believe was their entry level w/ramp (like 6.5' x 12') door was over $13k.   I thought it was quite pricey with really not much for any options.  Quality appeared to be good but way more then I would spend for it.  Their biggest selling point is the light weight and pounds per square inch on the ice.   They do have  channels on the inside to run you wired through if you want to add items.   The inside was extremely bright - almost to bright for my eyes.   I believe they said they are located in Litchfield, MN.
    • I would give your first statement 5 Pinnochios.  The first tax increase on people making less than $200k he signed was only 16 days into his first term.     "1. A 156 percent increase in the federal excise tax on tobacco: On February 4, 2009, just sixteen days into his Administration, Obama signed into law a 156 percent increase in the federal excise tax on tobacco, a hike of 61 cents per pack. The median income of smokers is just over $36,000 per year."       And then, of course, the big one is Obamacare, which was ruled a tax by the Supreme Court, and affects many taxpayers under $200,000.
    • Trump is way ahead of you there buddy.
    • The only tax change that occurred was allowing the Bush tax cuts to expire. All tax bills must be introduced in the House of Representatives, so if you are unhappy with the current state of taxes, you should start there.   Also for those wondering, Clinton's tax increases would have added about $140 billion per year in tax revenue.
    • Sooooo....we were at a breaking point before Obama care....anyone actually think their policy under Trumpcare is going to reduce costs with an increase in benefits.....over an extended period of time?
    • The Art of the Deal......
    • So in a nutshell, you wouldn't really recommend buying U.S. Treasury bonds for an investment.
    • I'm not sure on how much foam it took.  It has over 2" on the bottom.  What happens with the cold surface is you have to "flash" the surface with foam then go over it again, it uses more chemical to do the same job.  So the price to do a cold house is more.  The foam comes out hot & creates more heat during the chemical reaction.     The froth paks were more expensive than having it done in my case.
