Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

2009 Catfish "In-Sider" Review!

Recommended Posts

So many of you "goof balz" where having fun in the other thread, I figured I would have some fun also wink! I see I got a couple lurkers to come out of the woodwork! laugh Just so there is no confusion, I figure I would start a "review" thread and stop the infamous rumors started by some and my self grin

It is official! There is a 2009 edition of the Catfish In-Sider! I got my copy yesterday and have read about 2/3rds of it.

b6236c17.jpg

At 64 pages long, this is a very nice issue. They must have been listening to Slowhand, because the ad's are held to a very nice minimum. I also feel they have spread out the info between the species nicely this year.

They should be on the shelves with-in about a week or so and all the info I posted is accurate in Hanson's post on where to get them.

My "highlights" of this years issue so far are:

* Tracking Flatheads= (via radio tracking tag)

*Tidal Blues =(Dark might take interest in this article wink At four pages long it covers tips on the Potomac)

* Reel In A Good One & Cat Rod Roundup=(They dissect reel and rods in about 8 pages worth of info. Might be old hate for some, but still a nice read)

Plus more. I will not totally give away the issue, but IMO this is a much better one than we have had in the last couple years.

I have to give Scott Wiseman (IndyCatGuy) major props for his info in the article " A Night and Day Difference":

1bc7271e.jpg

Some very good info. I have to finish reading it though during lunch today. Very, very cool! Cool to have you on board in the cat forum!

I also picked up the new Critical Concepts #3. I have not dug into that one yet, but it also looks very cool. smile

I would say I rate the 2009 issue very high. IMO it has some good info.

Good luck!

Dang Shack! You sure that's not the 1989 edition? Just ribbin, you know it's all in good fun. smile

Bonnie must be treating you right up there on the north metro, I still haven't seen any issues around these parts. Which SW metro holiday stores did you figure might have them?

Oh I know winksmile

I thought I would just play off some of the strong postings being repeated from the "echelons" of the cat forum about no issue being released this year and just twist the whole thing around grin With the issue being so slow to hit the shelves this year, I could not restrain my self. wink I figured enough had suffered, so I let the "cat" out of the bag.

I just ordered mine right off line at Intermedia Outdoors's website. Its on page 20 of their magazine list. I think Jim Buck should have got his today also???

As far as the issue being on the shelves, I do not think it is as of yet. Maybe Beyond Shiners has it, but it sounded like the 28th was the day the stores where going to get it. To be straight forward with ya, I do not know when they are going to be in the stores and I just gave up. smile If you want, you could call Gopher News Inc./company in Golden Valley and ask them. They are the ones who have the 550 copies sitting in their warehouse.

Got my issue!

Funny how many people questioned you Shack... frown

Barnes and Noble at Ridgedale had about 10 copies left. Look close, they were hiding in the back of the bottom shelf.

Thank You In-Fisherman! Well Done! I thought it was a good issue.

Bonus purchase was Jim Cramer's "Watch TV, Get Rich" for $6.98. Booyah!

I don't know if anyone really truly questioned him or just had fun giving him a hard time smile

It would be nice to see more catfish art! I should give Agnew a call and see if he's ready to do one yet.

I guess I will have to stop at the B&N near Southdale. I am pretty sure that there will be one waiting for me. I can't imagine there are a lot of Edina catfishermen. Then again, I met a guy at the USBank in Byerlys one day and talked cats between transactions.

As for believing Shack, there is not a more gullible person on this board than I.

That is a SWEET illustration!!

Anyone check the price on that magazine? $4.99 ten years ago. Can't remember what the new issue cost but it was pretty close to that.

    •   I think you are right with the moderation of Facebook pages.  With forums (in general), it seems like moderators just delete individual posts, or ban certain users.  It seems like what happens more often than not with the Facebook posts is that they'll start off with good info, but 20 mins later some Richard comes along, and the admins just delete the entire post rather than delete certain comments.  Forums are still very much alive and well, and have a tremendous value with being able to retain content....I just don't see them being replaced by social media (in it's current format).
    • MMMM Taste like chicken ,,, X we need to get together for a ride this year
    • Threaded spaghetti hotdog bites. Simple, easy, and delicious. All you need is ketchup.
    • Yes del, they have quick pizza delivery  in town, right Dave? . We're having chili dogs n fries. But tacos or grilled cheese are tough to beat..
    •   Bear that's where you and I (and 100% of NHL Players, Coaches, Owners) disagree,  we want a Cup win and you want a good reg season record.  MN N Stars went to a Stanley Cup final and the Wild have made it to the quarters a couple times I believe so last year was not even close to the best season in MN hockey history. Reg Season means NOTHING! They could make the playoffs this year...lots of hockey left to be played and lots of teams closely fighting for spots at the moment which makes it interesting.
    • Lets frame these things for context, we were coming off our best season in MN hockey history, however we have been healthy for exactly 1 game this season and whether you like it or not that is relevant. If you asked him again I doubt you get the same response, or I doubt he said the same thing going into last year. And honestly who even says that? Not even the pens owner is that dumb, they frame it as a goal for the season. Either way its pointless to argue these things, we don't even know if they are in the playoffs let alone going on a deep run. They are playing better as of late so lets hope that sticks around.
    • Headed out from the house Sunday morning and put on 50 miles.   Looped south from Cloquet then west and back around.  Trails need snow to say the least.  Not another sled on the trails so that was nice but had to keep an eye out for rocks/sticks. Also had 3 turkeys run across the trail right in front of me, I had design's on the last one, but braked at the last minute.  I had visions of fresh turkey in the smoker LOL. With another warm up late this week and no snow, not sure if they will be rideable next weekend or not til we get more white stuff.  Felt good to get a few miles on anyway.
    •   I’ve only heard about the FB banter being obnoxious but haven’t seen it cuz truly, I stay away from FB completely.  My wife fills me in.   What that stuff sounds like is some of the stuff that got moderated out of this/these forums.  That was the intent anyway.  Yes, there were cases of over moderation but honestly, forums in general were just getting popular and it was a learning curve for both posters and site Admins.  I think things are more relaxed now.   I used to think using screen names rather than real names let the keyboard cowboys feel more reckless but maybe not?  Just crazy how some people have NO manners in public.   I’m still hanging in here and hoping activity keeps improving.  I’ve checked out other sites besides FB and still come back here. It’s my home forum.  And it will as long as people are interested in helping others.  You get what you give.  That’s just a constant in life.
    • What do you have to work with?   And what do you like?     How about pasta carbonara? takes noodles, parmesan type cheese, eggs, ham, bacon, or proscuitto.    Spaghetti is preferred noodle.   Lots of other pasta dishes if you are into pasta.   The breakfast for dinner thing, above, is always good.   Pancakes, eggs, waffles, french toast, etc.    Baked potatoes with toppings like butter, cheese, bacon bits, broccoli, whatever.    Chicken ala king over potatoes or rice (or in form of pot pie) if that isn't too much like soup or stew Fried breaded chicken strips (panko bread crumbs are the best but regular crumbs work too) jucy lucy sliders...http://www.startribune.com/party-with-a-super-bowl-theme-that-reflects-this-year-s-minnesota-locale/469764663/ Tater tot hotdish (if you have tots laying around)  Mexacali meat pie That's my list.  Or order pizza if there is a place.
    • You get a lot less followers when people finally learned that running their mouth on a public forum about where when and how to catch fish only got them more company at the boat ramp or on their honey hole. Not to mention added a lot of fishing pressure to some bodies of water and nearly ruined a few. And not just small lakes and rivers.
