Well, OK, it's the same ruffed grouse that Ken and I have been photographing, so it's not different in that way, but is a different way of expression.

Shot this morning with Canon 1D Mk3, Canon 300 f2.8L IS, iso800, 1/400 at f2.8, monopod.

Nice. Who would have thought that such a colorful bird (in this season anyway) would work in black and white. But it does make you aware of the intricacy of the head feathering and the wings are really interesting!

Great shot Steve: the motion, the clarity of the bird's head feathers, and especially the angle of the shot, you may have been laying down for that one.
