Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

Dirt Tracks...?

Recommended Posts

Anybody on here ever hit the local dirt tracks? I am getting geared up for this coming weekend if the weather holds up so I can hit Cedar Lake on Saturday. I know Deer Creek had their opener this part weekend. I was just wondering if anyone on FishingMN ever hit up the dirt tracks.

I know Viking Speedway in Alexandria has there opener on Saturday April 25, and North Central Speedway in Brainerd has their opener on May 2, Golden Spike Speedway in Saint Cloud has their opener this weekend. Those are the 3 tracks that i frequent.

We always go to Viking for the Mod Nationals in July and the Fall Classic in October, but its too far away from the cities to make regular nights out there. I have never been to North Central or Golden Spike. Is Golden Spike a nice track? I am kind of a late model snob, so I wish they raced lates there. St Cloud would be a do-able drive from the cities.

There is a new one getting set to open in Ogilvie about a mile from my dad's house. I am pretty excited to head up there and check it out.

I used to frequent Cedar Lake Speedway years ago.(mmmmm...about 25 years ago)It was some of the best fun I've had on a Saturday night. I think the track has changed a bit over the years, but I imagine it's still just as fun. Can you still back your cars right up to the fence and get sprayed with mud balls from time to time?

You have to pay extra to go park in there, but people still go park in there and watch the races. Most of them have RV's and campers, but on the regular nights you still see cars and trucks parked in there. We go almost every weekend to CLS, it is just so close to the cities.(We sometimes make it back home to Plymouth in exactly an hour from the track) And it is nice to be able to go see late model racing on a weekly basis that close to home. It is fun to get to meet the regular drivers, you can meet some very nice, genuine drivers in the pits after the races are over. Plus, CLS brings in the big dog late models and sprint cars from all around the nation two times a year. CLS does as good a job of putting together big shows as any track in the midwest. I think alot of that hsa to do with the tack promoter, Chris Stepan, but I just love the shows they put on at CLS week in and week out during the summer months.

For those of you interested in kids stuff (go-karts) on the dirt:

Blue Earth

Atwater

Ceder Mills

Golden Spike Raceway

Those 4 have some serious speed and are all 1/8 mile with the exeption of Golden Spike being a 1/5

Toner's Lake by Waterville and Arlington Raceway also have karts on much smaller tracks . We raced both last year and really fell in love with the Sunday afternoon action at Toner's Lake. It's a 1/10th mile with some decent banking. Arlington is a 1/12th , one groove wonder that runs before the big cars on selected Saturday's.

Harvey,

Does he have the same one he had last year or did he build a new one? Is He goin to bring it out this weekend for test and tune?

No he sold the 2008 and purchased a 09 Harris. More than likely he will not be at test and tune. But he could be.

So I hear Red Cedar Speedway in Menomonie, WI is having their opener tomorrow(4/17) just like Cedar Lake is. It will be interesting to see who decides to go to which track. CLS is having a full show on Friday and Saturday so I'm sure a few guys will go to Red Cedar on Friday and hit CLS on Saturday. I'm hoping for a big car count at CLS on Saturday if I get to go.

The weather was so nice on Friday but unfortunately I had no one to go racing with, but I made it over to CLS on Saturday night though. It was a cool night, but it was fun to be at the races again. The racing wasn't as good as it sounded like it was on Friday, but like I said, just good to be back at the track. Anybody else make it out the dirt tracks this weekend?

The test and tune at Arlington was not the greatest as the tracks was very dry. One could find out if the car ran but as far as set up, wasn't worth the effort.

They never water the track that much anyway for test and tune. By the way Tom,sorry I didn't stick around , had other plans for the day. Came over to watch Adam beat the snot out of his sister's car at the beginning when the track had moisture. Should have seen her eyes when he hit the memory on the tach. eek

One needs to always prep the track even with the threat of rain. If it does rain it doesn't matter and if it doesn't, one would have a track in good condition. When they do next to nothing, they could just as well cancel the whole day as the track surface is worthless.

Hey Harvey, do you know Brett Trebesch? You said your son races a mod at Arlington and Redwood. I know Brett used to run those tracks, not sure if he still does. Just wondering, he is a relative of mine.

    • Nice win this afternoon on the road...things are getting interesting....need others to keep stumbling and we may not have to worry about a Wild Card.
    • That's the problem in restrictor plate races--stay on the gas and hit the car in front or lift and be hit from behind.
    • No doubt!   We didn’t have to wonder if there was actual contact though after Dillon said he had a run and just stayed in the gas.   Is what it is.  And that’s the difference I noticed.
    • So no sill plate for the walls on the perimeter then.  OK.     Again, not an expert so whatever your guys say and you’re comfortable with... I don’t know all your construction details. I - sandy County Is just that; sandy.  So it’s not too tough to get a good base.   My experience, as it relates to this, has just been based on building a 36x48 wood framed garage in Isanti County.  8 inch block on the perimeter to support 12 foot sidewalls of 2x6 construction.  My buddy that sold me the lumber said the project was only 200 feet short on interior walls from being a house.  After adding in the attic square footage it had more than my house.  Going with a pole building frame is the game changer.   Again, best of luck. It would be interesting to me to see the completed project.
    •   Didn't say you would.
    • Lol Leech-I don’t remember saying I was going to block the driveway with logs or wire. They will begin hitting the 4x4’s beneath there that have been there to keep cars from driving on the grass. Not my deal. I was only looking for some guidance on if I’m overreacting or if there should be som me]angers employee. So, ya, like everything else, it’s a lack of manners and I’m not crazy...yet.
    • Just had a call with the builder and the concrete guy I am working with. Neither said they would "waste" concrete on thickening the edge unless there were plans to add on to the structure at a later date. The builder said no amount of concrete on the edge will help the building stability. He says if it moves its his fault in building it. There will be no weight on the outside edge of the building, worst thing that could happen would be erosion outside the building.
    • Had looked into the panels and they pretty much doubled the initial cost of the structure. I could spry foam the entire wall cavity for less $ and have close to the same thing.
    • Most of the moving on restrictor plates is done by changing the air flow around the car being passed with no or very little contact.
