Type of grass for sandy soil

Recommended Posts

I have very sandy soil in my yard and I'm wondering what type of grass is best. I'm assuming something that has deep root but I have no clue if that waould be bluegrass or fescue or ???

I should add that the lawn is maybe 25% shaded at most.

A tall fescue mix would work. Prairie Moon has a special fescue blend.

If you didn't mind trading a later green up for no mowing or watering check out Buffalo Grass and Blue Grama.

If you want Kentucky Blue Grass install irrigation because its from Europe where they get alot more rain.
