Pheasant nesting

jps

Not exactly sure but I used to hatch pheasant eggs from our pen raised pheasants here in central MN and the earliest I can ever remember getting a batch of eggs was about April 20th. So if I were to guess I would say early May for the first hatch.

My soil consevationist wants us to burn our sloughs in april because its before they nest. He said to thick of sloughs are death traps for chicks because they cant escape a coyote. same for single tree rows. we burn every 3 to 5 years.
