Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

In the article it said the DNR was still taking bids on who would be doing the auction. I doubt anything will be set until that is settled.

i wonder how public they will make it, from reading it doesnt sound like the advertised becaues if a guy bought a $1000 gun for 300 must have not been to many people there

I went to the WI DNR auction in SPooner WI in the late 80's. Tons of long guns. Most of the confiscated guns came from poachers etc so the majority were master mag .22 sold by Coast to Coast hardware and Mossberg pump shotguns. Most had never been oiled and had seen serious use or been thrown out of a moving vehicle. There were some nice deer rifles also but people were trying to buy there own gun back and paid more than retail for them. I never placed a bid on a gun. I did bid on some tip ups but they also went for way more than retail. Oh well. Maybe MN DNR guns are different but I think it would be the same.

Go on to the DNR HSOforum and sign up for email alerts. They are supposed to send updates about this, but I haven't gotten one yet.

You got that right. There will be a ton of people. But considering where the state's budget is at, I say bid them up. In past years, attendance was so bad, the crooks came back and bought their guns back for 1/2 of what they paid for them!

Looks like the Rem 870 and the S&W 3000 are the poacher specials. Lots of low end guns on that list. A few nice rifle/scope setups on there but mostly low end rigs.

I also like the muzzle loaders listed with scopes on them. I wonder if that's what they got pinched for or if they were using them during regular firearms season.

I'm sure it will packed with how well advertised it is. I've gone to the BCA auction a couple of times as a buyer for a dealer. Used to be good deals, now they bring in more buyers and the stuff sells pretty much for what it should used retail.

On the bright side the DNR will get some money back out of this rather than having a fire sale where they miss out on potential money. Now what they do with the money is a different story, hopefully it doesn't go into salamander research.

If anyone goes let us know how it was. If your looking for an 870 or a 3000 you might be able to get one cheap.

    • Yup.....those are the ones I use also. Work  just fine. 1 con.....the rolls are 50 ft. long and don't fit into a machine with bag storage, so you have to cut them by hand. But the price is excellent.
    • Great Saturday to build some pork loin jerky. Got round 1 in the smoker round 2 still in the bucket.
    • At the KMart at Nicollet and Lake in Minneapolis, there is a flock of pigeons that numbers several hundreds. Last Thursday going home from the Super Market I saw a large hawk make a strike at one, but missed.  This was a pretty dark bird overall and much bigger than a Coopers or a Sharpshin and heavy bodied not at all slender.  The attack was a straight line shot from a street light roost on a bird sitting on the shorter parking lot light post.  It seems to me that the attack was launched from a perch about a block away.  The target flew off and there was no chase, the attacker just returned to its previous roost.  I could not get over into the turn lane and go into the parking lot to get a closer look.  The main flock of pigeons didn't actually seem to notice, and there were even some stragglers. Is it possible that goshawks are starting to come into the city in the winter?  From a goshawk I would have expected a chase.  There are certainly plenty of pigeons, and the local falcons have gone south...  I know they are supposed to avoid human concentrations, but then so are loons and they are now common city residents and rest here when passing through in the spring.  We are getting all kinds of wild life in the Cities these days and not all of it goes around just on two legs.
    • I'm soon to be 40, still have never had a REAL super bowl party!   I will sit and hope.   Besides, at 7:11 last Sunday I pulled something in my neck/shoulder.  Might be a hole in my sister and brother in laws garage ceiling.
    • Lol. Dad and I were talking about this after the game last weekend after I had to tell him over and over that I have not been alive when the vikes have ever played a Super Bowl. You old timers can believe in what you want, but us Gen-X kids are saying SKOL!
    •   I'm sure if I had the time I could have spent 10 more minutes and made a nice one out of Oak or Cherry wood! Or found a blue Genz box on C/list and been done with it!
    •   You didn't try to call me, I would have given you some old oak boards I have laying around and let you use a few of my basic woodworking tools like a jig saw, an oscillating drum sander and a router with a round over bit.    I always tell my son, if something is worth doing, it's worth doing right.
    • Ooof, that sucks.  Been there, done that.  Somebody’s still being affected by our day in the soup at temps like that.  Woulda given the world for a few studs in the snowmobile track!
