How to create an @mention - Click Here   07/16/2015

You can use the @mention aspect whenever you want someone to be notified about a post or let them know you are talking about them. Type the @ symbol type in a couple "lowercase" letters pause then once the names pop-up either select or keep typing in letters to narrow down the list until you get the @mention name you are looking for. You can play a game so members can see how it works. If you want to practice or If your name has been @mentioned below you should see it in your notifications (upper right) and you then have to @mention one or two members who haven't been mentioned inthe comments section below. Let's see how long we can keep this going. Anyone who duplicates a name that has already been @mentioned loses. This is the first group to be @mentioned to get the ball rolling: @Borch @Scott K @Corey Bechtold @Matt Johnson @mrklean @eyeguy 54 @Finns @IceHawk @MarkB @Cliff Wagenbach @Wayne Ek

The Official Lions Off-season Thread!!!

Recommended Posts

Stealing a page from FG:

This thread is for ideas on what moves the lions should make or have made in the off-season...re-signings, new coaching, trades, free agency, etc...it will change throughout the off-season as moves are made.

of course that all depends on who the lions draft, trade, and sign.

This is where this thread should start out of respect. The Loins should have dumped Wayne Fontes when Barry Sanders was in his prime; something the Vikings could learn from. What a [badWordUsage] shame Barry never seen a superbowl.

It would suck being a Lions fan. However, it does appear the Brass are committed to improving. It will be interesting to see what the do.....

What do lions fans think they should do?

Hey, they may as well trade that draft pick. Some of their recent high picks just haven't panned out frankly.

Lions fan here. Why dont know why, always have been one and wont jump the ship. Hopefully the new brass can pick some players that wont flop. Its gotta change someday. They need to address the oline 1st, and then somehow find a franchise QB. Not changing coaches like used underware might help as well. They have made some decent moves on D. Just hope they all mess and can stay healthy.

Btw I have a harrington jersey for sale if any wants

I'd take it, but I just threw my pocket change in the piggy bank and its a pain to get it out. You coulda been 78 cents richer.

BTW, all kidding aside, I had Kevin Smith on my fantasy team last year, and I think he is going to be a really good RB someday. He had some sparkling moments last season, and I think he will be around for awhile

Well with the curse of Bobby Lane " the lions will not win for fifty years" over 1958-2008. Our new Qb went to the same high school as lane did. Could this be an omen of better things to come. I just pray that they dont rush this kid and use the next 4 picks the right way. They may have a chance as millen nuts isnt around anymore.

well i told one of friends that the lions needed a tight end and low and behold they took one. Totally fits Scott L's offence ideas.

Looks like the Lions defense just received a measurable upgrade...Larry Foote, former Steeler, just signed a deal with them.

Lions will do better then the Queens this year, I HOPE!!!

Brian, you may be right, it looks as though the Lions are determined to improve their team this year. I wouldn't be surprised to see them go from last to first. Our division isn't a very tough division, it will be a close interesting season anyway.

I am not sure about first, but I also believe the Lions will be WAY more competitive this year. I feel they finish ahead of the bears this year!

“I always want to win,” Foote said. “If you ask my friends and family, if I don’t win, I get angry. I want to win by any means. You go to my house, and you see holes in the wall right now from video games. I’m a competitor. I want to win. I didn’t look at the record. I said, ‘Shoot, I’m going to help them.’ ”

Foote wants to help his hometown off the field, too. He just bought a house here. He will continue to be active in the community -- no matter where he plays in 2010 and beyond.

“Detroit is on the up-and-up,” Foote said. “We’re starting fresh with the football team. We’ve got a new mayor. We can’t do nothing but go up, to be honest.

“But people have got to be willing to roll up their sleeves and get to the root of it and turn things around, and I’m definitely one that’s on the positive side of that. I’m excited. Just off the field, just doing stuff in the community and reaching these young kids and getting this place turned around.”

I like this guy, maybe this will be a year that I wont have to have my head in the sand. That time has to come.

Chad.

my quess is 13-3 loss to pats in SB. Well, well maybe not. Give us 3 years. well, well lets see how this new management team works. So far the job has been good. Did a short term fix on the defence via free agents. Went O with the draft. Next year hopefully they go D in the draft and O free agents. Sounds like a good formula. Hell maybe farve will come here to get some more revenge?

    • Them gun safe's ain't filling themselves I thought we all already had one.
    • Yes, I know that. But the squirrel tail is the best material for jigs. My intent was to let you know the PREFERRED material for tying. It would also be the PREFERRED material for tying jigs. Marabou would also make dynamite jigs but would not be as durable.
    • The one I have only runs when the furnace is on.  In the summer I turn off the water that goes to it and turn down the humidistat.  There are no moving parts in mine.  In the winter a solenoid opens the water line and water trickles over a filter like thing.  Unless your rig is really old I suspect it works about the same way.  Be sure to keep the humidity in the house to the proper level.  You can get all sorts of guidance on line.
    • I was thinking more about the hair jigs.
    • Generally fly tiers much prefer squirrel tail hair.  There are several long standing patterns that use squirrel but  I don't recall ever hearing anybody talk about raccoon tails. The body fur might be useful as dubbing material but there are too many other options to make it worth the trouble.  I doubt anybody would find possum fur of value as a fly tying material,   but then I'm no expert. And I know nothing about making spinning lures and have never sold a pelt to any fishing tackle company.  Squirrels are my pals.
    • I have hardwood in my new house and a drum style house humidifier - does the humidifier only run when the heat (furnace) is on. And if thats the case how do you run the humidifier in summer if its always going to be hot enough to not require the furnace to run?
    •    The electric choke dose not open and close according to engine temp.    The electric choke starts to warm up when you turn the ignition key on.  If you leave the key on but don't start the engine the choke will continue to warm and eventual open.  So a normal cold start with any carb regardless of choke type is to pump the peddle to get a shot of fuel from the accelerator pump.   If you had an automatic choke that peddle pump would set the choke too.   Now crank over the engine. If your electric choke is open before you've put power to it it'll need to be adjusted.  Loosen the set screws at the round black cap and rotate the cap till the choke closes.  Snug the screws back up.   Chances are you'll have to go back and fine tune this along with the high idle speed.     I'm sure you can find that procedure on the net somewhere.      The miss and cut out at higher RPMs could be a lot of things but could be related to the choke and specifically a choke butterfly closing by the increased vacuum.  Thats contrary to a choke being pulled open by vacuum but I've seen it happen when the choke isn't right when under load and vacuum drops with throttle butterflies wide open.    At any rate adjust the choke to fix the cold start issue and that might clear up the cut out.   If your still bogging, wire the choke open after the engine has warmed and try it under load.
    • Only time we block ours is if there is any water on the, usually only a problem late in the season
