Lake Winnipeg---last weekend of season

Recommended Posts

I know a lot of you had trips planned for the last weekend, but fighting floods took priority.

The bite was good all over the South basin. I fished Chalet, Gimli and Hecla Island. Caught lots of fish at all places. The big girls were few and far between for most people though.

For the guys fishing the south end, clean water was the answer. The spots that have been holding fish were done. The Red was making the water murky anywhere near it. Access was good at Warner, and the ice conditions were good.

I've been wondering the same thing as Rob- how's Stu? I've sent him a couple e-mails, but they've bounced back, saying his "quota is full". I imagine lots of e-mails in his inbox from people wishing him well.

I hope he's doing ok. Stinkin' river!

I drove by Stu's today. To me water looks un-changed. It is not in his buildings as of today. It looked like he had some dock and small boat damage that were on the shore..

I would guess the water is about 2' from the deck of the buildings. There is lots of ice in front of the dam and all down river.

Our flood forcast is very dependent on ice jams north of Selkirk.

So far so good, but that can change in an hour.
