Class 5 gravel?

You do not need to crush the rock to make it class 5 (MNDOT 3138) it just needs to meet class 5 gradation. Some specs will call for 100% crushed... But class 5 "could be" straight out of the bank. (I agree Gregg - most is run through a screen or crusher)

I do agree that this will not pack up very well. I was on a road crew once in Eagan and we used sand and gravel class 5 and it was like trying to build a road on a billion marbles.

I ordered class 5 to re gravel my driveway and it looks nothing like the class 5 we got when we made it in 2016.  This class 5 looks like a pile of sand with about 10-20% crushed rock.

 

Not sure if I have much of a choice now, with 11 yards in my driveway but to try to spread it down.  I feel like this is all going to wash away in a winter or 2.

 

Any advice?
