idratherbefishing
After many tests and procedures my 5 yr old yellow lab was diagnosed with Leptospirosis. Has anyone ever had a dog with this disease and how did it turn out. My vet said that it is curable with antibiotic treatments, if it hasn't affected the organs too much. Thanks for any responses. LABS4ME
Lepto is a disease that often is mis-diagnosed as Lyme disease. It is generally a diease with greater long term potential to take down your dog than Lyme disease. It is curable with high doses of specific antibiotics as long as it has not progressed to a further stage. If caught early and treated aggresivley, most dogs will come out of it fine. There are Lepto vaccines coming on the market now and according to my vet, will probably be the #1 vaccine you should inquire about for sporting dogs.Let us know how he does.Good Luck!Ken
Ralph Wiggum
I have talked to several vets and all recommend the Lepto vaccine.
