trolling motor wiring

Question

I am going to run a 24 volt Minnkota vector (transom) this summer. My batteries will be located up front for better weight distribution. What will i need to do to run something from the trolling motor to the area where my batteries will be? Approx 8 ft will be the distance and where can I get said wires?

Thanks,

BHS

did the same thing with my boat, battery up front, been too many years do not recall the size wire I used. the big thing is make sure the wire is heavy enough to handle the load, too small or too big will cause problems. any hardware place should have the wire you need.

I use 8ga minimum or 6ga for a bit of extra measure.

Don't forget the fuse or circuit breaker as the first thing right off the battery positive before the run of wire to the motor.

There is marine grade wire, and I suppose it would be best to use it. But, I've used normal stranded THHN wire with no problems that I can see. You can get this stuff at most any place that sells home/industrial wiring. YMMV, NRFA.
