Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

Who Should the Vike Draft?

Recommended Posts

My vote is for Percy Harvin. Comes from a great program and is a flat out playmaker. If Sydney Rice would ever decide to play football I'd probably go elsewhere on this but the Vikes need another wide-out who can take some pressure off of AP and catch those 5 yard passes the Vikes love to throw and turn them into 20.

I think they should go OT on their first round pick. As for reciever, I think their are enough out in free agency that we can pick up a decent one. Second round pick, they should go after a CB, since Sharper will be gone.

Shaper is a safety, did you mean second round pick a safety to replace him?

WCCO this morning had a story on the Vikes resigning Birk, and in there they said it looked as though sharper would be returning.

They need to pick up another wide rec. and possibly an O-lineman

I would like to see them get an O-lineman with the first pick in the draft, and grab one of the good free agent wide outs.

I'm always leery of drafting wideouts. An O-lineman seems like a safer draft.

Ya I was a little confused grin . But with Winfield aging, Sharper possibly leaving, I just dont want a huge hole in our DB, so maybe I should have said DB instead.

Yeah a solid DB wouldnt be a bad draft either, for reasons 4wanderingeyes stated above. Sharper has 2 maybe 3 years left and winfield isnt a spring chicken anymore either.

O-line

DB

WR

should be draft priorities.

I'm going to scream if they waste a draft pick on another over rated-under acheiving POS quarterback. Spend some money Ziggy.

If there is an OT(Britton,Beatty) at #22 you can bet that's who we'll draft. If not we'll look at cornerbacks DJ Moore and Alphonso Smith. Outside possibilities are a wide reciever like Hakeem Nicks or Kenny Britt.

While Harvin is a big play waiting to happen he is injury prone. He also is kind of a hybrid running back wide reciever. I don't really think he fits what we need as far as a wr goes. Rather have a big atheletic pass catcher to work the middle of the field(Nicks, Britt). However, he is an interesting option. He can take care of our pr/kr needs and could be used like Reggie Bush in certain packages.

Here's my mock for the Vikes.

1. DJ Moore CB- Stud perfect cover 2 cb

2. Jamon Meredith OT- 1st round value and talent

3. Eric Wood C

4. Brandon Gibson WR

5. Terrance Taylor DT

6. No Pick

7a. Devin Moore RB

7b. Ra'shon Harris DT

Sharper might not even have 3 plays left let alone 3 years..LOL.

thats what i was thinking...he lost a step 2 seasons ago and about 10 steps this past season...he was famous for being a ball hawk but he can't get to the ball to hawk it anymore.

If Stafford or Sanchez falls take him or a stud CB like Vontae Davis or stud LB like Laurinitis and get a quality OT like Andre Smith or Eben Britton in the second round.

I've only looked at a few mock drafts to date but the few I've seen have as many as 4 or 5 tackles going before the Vikings select. That was leaving them the second CB in the draft and I could handle that if it happens.

Would really prefer a solid tackle but if they are gone and we have a shot at one of the corners I'd say jump on it. With so many WR's jumping all over the boards after the combine I'm hoping some fall into the second round but we would also still need that tackle as well.

I don't see Stafford or Sanchez falling that far, If we still have a 1st rounder by than I think they should address the aging secondary, or o-line.

If a QB falls to you then I would go that route, if not I would go O-line or secondary.

I would love to see the vikes go out and sign TJ Houshmanzadah, he's a stud of a WR and he can do it all. Considering our likely QB options for this season I think someone like TJ might be needed since he can make a bad QB look good.

Because Carson Palmer is a bad QB? He also has Chad Johnson there to help take double teams off of him. I am not sold on TJ. I would go offensive line, db and wr. If Rice ever decides not to be hurt he has shown potential and maybe a better qb might help him out.

There will probably be 7 offensive tackles drafted in round one. All of which would be better than Cook. If Beatty, Britton or Meredith are there it's almost a lock we'll take one of them. Meredith is slated as a 2nd rounder but has been moving up draft boards after impressive combine workouts. Andre Smith will not fall down to us. He's going to be a top ten pick.

Otherwise we'll look at DJ Moore, Alphonso Smith and Darius Butler. Vontae Davis us moving up so we have no chance at him. Malcolm Jenkins may drop a few spots but not to #22.

Childress apparently doesn't like to take recievers in the first round but if a playmaker like Maclin or Heyward-Bey is there you never know. Harvin is a man without a true position. Kind of a slash type. Very explosive but small and injury prone.

Laurinaitis would be a reach at #22. He's also a mlb and we are set there with EJ.

Carson Palmer is a great qb but he was out for season after week 3 or so last year and chad johnson didn't demand much cause technically he should of been out for season too but still played....backup qb fitzpatrick played all year...i hear where you are coming from but TJ is the real deal.

he's fast, great hands, will go up the middle or take it deep...i pray the vikes would get him but i don't know if we would spend what he's gonna get after spending all that big money on berrian last season...but zigy gave the green light to spend whatever so it's tough to say what we will do and who will be flying into town on the jet tomorrow night.

Lauranitis has reportedly had very bad workouts at the combine so far. He is dropping like a rock. Besides, the last thing the vikes need is another LB. I know hes a hometown kid but get away from that please!

DB is first priority

OT is next

doesnt really matter when you get to rounds 3-7, one might make it.

Like was already said Palmer wasn't throwing the ball last season and Johnson was just an average WR last season and still TJ had a very good season.

The other thing to note is that Cinci' didn't have a running game to balance with the pass. With 8-9 guys on the line to stop AP and with Berrian lined up on the other side demanding some attention there should be plenty of room for TJ to do some damage. Or the defense could choose to double TJ but then AP will have lots of room to run or Berrian will single coverage.

A monkey could run the offense when you have options like that.

Agree. I just hope one of those names is still available.

Stafford, Sanchez, Davis, Smith and Britton will all be gone before we pick in the first round. Laurinitis would be a bad pick at #22 and he will likely go early in the 2nd round.

Getting Smith or Britton in the 2nd round is laughable. Smith was being considered for the first pick in the draft. After his issue at the combine he may fall but not past #13. It's possible Britton will be there at #22 but hes been moving up draft boards pretty steadily for the last two months.

If Sanchez slips into the teens I'd like to see us move up and get him. Stafford won't last past pick #3.

Since the combine is now over I think our most likely to draft guys at #22 are- Beatty OT, DJ Moore CB, Britt WR.

I really think percy harvin will be there at 22 and we should get him.. He could add alot to the special teams on kickoff and punt returns.. otherwise a right tackle and a cb are a priority

    • This furnace has 2 pipes. The larger pipe about 4" is the air intake is supported through ring #29. The smaller pipe inside the larger pipe about 2" is the furnace exhaust connected through the larger ring #30 and screwed to the raised portion of ring #29. My furnace a vintage Hydro Flame Convection with dual direct vent, needed no power, and used a pilot light. Had the identical 2 pipe direct vent as yours. I built 2 rings similar to your drawing. Had 2 major issues: 1. Anytime the wind exceeded 20 mph, my pilot light would blow out even when the furnace side of my house was parked to the leeward side due to wind eddies.  2. At the exhaust cap which was about 1 3/4" from the side of the house would scorch the side surface above the cap and the moisture from burning Propane (1/2 pt. per 10#) would freeze on and below the exhaust when temp went -10 or below. Second year I re-designed using the Pipe Cap photo 1 from Menards for under $10. I cut off the bottom half at the black line and cut a hole on the outside flat surface for the exhaust pipe. This was my fresh air intake. Also filled the inside of the cap with a disassembled expanded metal filter from a motor home stove top exhaust filter.  Photo 1   Secured it to my house and ran the exhaust pipe through the hole in the end. Attached the exhaust pipe to a 2" x 3" aluminum gutter down spout used as a chimney. Photos 2 and 3. Totally solved my issues. You may also find a similar cap to photo 1 for the exhaust instead of the pipe. Most of the caps I was able to find had a 4" connection point so you would need to modify to 2" or whatever size you exhaust pipe is. How ever you do it, cover all openings with a screen to keep the Mud-daubers out as they love burned propane orifice area to build there nest.  Photo 2 & 3
    • sure looks like YHBB.  open fields and swamps close by? They like to hang out where the RWBB do.  Cannon SX30IS is pretty cheap online. 35 power zoom. good for still shots.
    • Going to bait tomorrow with fryer grease, bread, dog food, cherry frosting, peanut butter, soft candies, raw white sugar, and popcorn. I am throwing everything at them tomorrow, hopefully the bears like the variety!
    • I don't know about that but I will certainly not write him off, if he can be a steady vet I will be happy.
    • That's a great chicken recipe duff, but that steak n corn get my vote!!
    • I was gonna say my yard has been thick with juvenile birds the last few days, always harder to ID birds this time of year. Had an albino something or other with a flock of birds, not sure I've seen an albino bird before. And just had a sharp shinned hawk hanging out on the branch above the feeders.  But I feed ALL of the birds......love them raptors. I will say the cowbirds around sure tolerate the dog or I getting pretty close to them.
    • Had a decent trip.  We fished the evening of Aug. 9-Aug. 15.  Had 2 pretty good days, 2 bad days, and the rest were just so-so.  Dad, Uncle, and Grandpa don't like getting up early anymore so we usually outdrink the fish at night and sleep in mornings.   We have slowly been learning how to consistently catch fish on this lake.  The local guys don't provide any information and neither do the guys that have been making the trip for 20+ years.  Can't say I blame them much, but would have shortened the learning curve for us a little bit.  We found a bay a few years back that we can catch 10-16" walleye all day in, just a shallow weedy bay pulling spinners.  Usually get enough eyes' for dinner and then go search the reefs, shorelines, and islands for bigger fish.   I think we finally dialed in on some bottom bouncers and have 2-3 spots were we can go and most likely catch fish with the chance at some big ones.  1oz to 1-1/2oz BB with leeches or worms work the best on these spots.  2 spots are reefs topping out at 9-10fow and the other spot is a little flatter, with access to some shallow weeds.  We also deep troll suspended fish some evenings and don't catch a lot, but the ones we do are bigger fish.  We found iwe caught more fish when we were running and gunning.  Fish a spot for 20-30 minutes and then move on until we found some fish.  This kind of stinks for Grandpa but he understands we can't catch them if they are there and active. Biggest of the week was 26 1/4" walleye with 20-25 eyes' over 20".  I think I had 2 -25" and also a 37" pike the last evening.  Really fun time and scenery with the family.  Looking forward to next year and searching more of the lake.
    • Not a cowbird. We have several around here and they are generally dark-black grey and brown. The pictured bird almost looks as though it could be an immature yellow headed blackbird. Cowbirds are quite reclusive and we have been surprised they come out to our feeders, but they have become pretty regular customers. Like the deer that graze in the front yard. Last night we had the buck, doe and twin fawns and even though we talked softly to them they did not spook,  but seemed to simply acknowledge our presence on the deck and continued to feed. And of course, as usual, the black squirrels are gathering all MY walnuts!  darn.....I just can't win. The chipmunks eat my strawberries, deer eat tomato plants and squirrels eat my walnuts. I'm left with this old bottle of Beefeaters, a small bottle of vermouth and a few olives in a jar.  Things are tough out here in the wilderness.
