I think its an upgrade, Sage just needs to be slightly above average. He isn't going to set passing records but if he can be mobile enough and make decent passes, that's what we need.

Cassel would have been good, and I heard on HAMS this am there was some talk about looking into the deal between NE & KC since the new KC GM was the assist. GM at NE, but Shaver said NE can trade Cassel for whatever they decide.

there isn't much to look into...the original asking price to trade for cassel and the deal you'd need to sign him longterm and his lack of experience made it so there were no serious offers.

we already know how randy moss can make a qb look like a stud...add in wes welker and stellar coaching...cassel was almost cut last year and hadn't started since highschool...one good season in the perfect situation and you have to sign him top qb money....who wants to touch that? or what end up paying a 1st round pic to find out he's over rated and you don't sign him longterm?

Ahh yes....and Sage was throwing to Andre Johnson who has the most receiving yards in the NFL last season and Slaton was in the top 10 in rushing yards. Not saying Sage is a bad choice. With Bernard, TJ, AP and Chester I'm thinking a high school QB should be able to step in and get it done. If they can't, then I blame it on coaching. Skills are there.
