3 posts in this topic

would it help to shim up the blades at the edge to get them to cut better when they loose their edge.the ice is 4 feet thick here and really hard. the blades seem to get dull really fast.

I have done this in the past and it seems to help for a while.

Not much really...if one side is a tiny bit off..the auger will buck and jump. I have had no luck with shims...far more frustration [PoorWordUsage]'n around with it than anything else...not worth it is my view.

Sharp blades at the proper pitch is the best way to go. I recommend getting an old set sharpened and buy and run a new set.
