Skijoring?

3 posts in this topic

Anyone here go skijoring with your dog? I read an article in the MN Conservation Volunteer about it and it looks like a great way to keep a hunting dog in shape while having a lot of fun in the process.

If you've not heard of it, it's basically putting a harness on your dog and having him pull you while you cross country ski.

If you've done this, how much does it cost to get into it, and does this activity conflict with retriever training in any way?

Yes, I go skijoring with my lab all the time. He loves it!! You can order the stuff from Kondos outdoors in Ely. It cost about $80 for everything you need.

That's cheaper than I would have thought. Of course, I'd have to buy cross country skis and learn how to use those first. I'll have to look into doing this next year. Thanks for the info!
