How often do you guys switch out your berkely gulp or powerbait from your hook?

Is it better to spend more for a container of the stuff so that you can unhook it and put it back in the liquid and put on a new one on? I have a small bag of gulp and have rotated them on/off the hook and in/out of the bag for a while. How long is too long?

I don't believe you are supposed to put used Gulp back in the bag cause it starts to deterioate when mixed with water, and when you expose the whole bag to it I think it will eventually ruin the bait. I carry a bunch of ziplocs for putting used Gulp back into. I am sure powerbait is ok for putting back cause it is a plastic still.
