Ice Wolf
Do anyone use the flimsy round foam disks that the stores sell for preventing your hole from freezing over in -10 temps when using beaver-dam tip-up. Do they work or stick with round insolated type of tip-up.
jwhjr
I use them and they work ok. You have to make sure you have a good "seal" on the hole. In other words, make sure you shovel the ridge around the hole from drilling so its flat across.
timbo147
They work pretty good. I still get some slush in the hole after a while but it usually won't freeze.
Gus
Most of the time for me it's the difference between skim ice and that nice 1/8th or 1/4" that can accumulate when really cold out. I still check them often enough and keep them cleaned out but it helps. Also helps keep snow from drifting in on the hole during snowy windy days.
