I use a an old truck bed rubber mat. I cut the holes out in the pattern I wanted for my holes. Now i just go out, throw the mat down, mark my holes and slide it out of the way. Auger out your holes, slide it in place and you have a rubber floor through out the interior of your shack. doesnt freeze and when I am done, I just roll it up and lay it on top of the travel cover. I use a couple sections of high density foam that you can't rip or tear. Not sure what you would call it but it's about 1/2in thick and is white. The guy who gave it me says he can get the foam as thick as 2 inches and has thought about using it for the floor for his next wheeled house.

As far as boots are concerned my uncle, father and I all have lacross ice bowls or ice kings and we never have to worry about cold feet. The boots are brutes but warm toasty feet are a nice trade off.
