Auger break in mixture?

9 posts in this topic

Hey guys i just got a strikemaster lazer mag and i am going to run amsoil sabre professional in it, I was wondering if i should break it in at a 50:1 mixture or if its okay to just start it at 80:1 or 100:1.

I would run with the manufacturer reccommendations. New augers are fun.

read the label above the tank, mine says mix the gas 24-1.

I broke my SM in at 50:1 with the Saber Professional, and I've been running 80:1 since with no issues.

I mixed my gas can at 80/1 with Amsoil then put in a extra 1/2 oz or so of oil directly in the tank. Then 80/1 after that.

I ran the manufacture's recommended mix for break-in.

it may smoke a little more, but it can't hurt to run a little extra oil.

Many 2-cycle engine manufacturers recommend running double the oil for the first tank or two of gas - Yes you can use the Saber Professional for break in for an auger, but I would prefer to see it at 50-1 for the first tank or two. (Though many have started with 80-1 or 100-1 brand new with no problems that I have heard of from anyone.)
