Gift Ideas for a early teen niece??

17 posts in this topic

Hi all,

My wife's family draws names for christmas and of course I couldn't get one of her brothers that I could just take a trip to cabelas and they'd be happy with whatever I brought back.....nope...I draw the name of her 14 year old niece.

We don't have any kids so I have no idea what early teen girls are in to.

Anyone with early teen daughters have any ideas?? I would just ask but it is supposed to be a suprise as to who has who's name. I'd do a gift card but that seems kinda impersonal for family.

I appreciate your help.

If she has an MP3player, get her a gift card for Itoons download. Just a thought.

Does she like the outdoors? If so, there is a good start. If not ask her if she's interested,

Might have some suggestions but need to know how much change you are dropping here.

Earth friendly jewelry is preaty "kewl" to a teenier girl if she is also into "Green Earth" philosophy. Wall Mart and other retailers are part of a partnership deal on this line of Eco friendly stuff, so it is available and affordable.

May take her off guard that her "Old Uncle" is up on such stuff.

A gift card.

With a 14 year old girl you can't go wrong with.

Wet Seal, Abercrombie & Fitcht, Aeropostale, Hot Topics.

We usually get our babysitters something like a Ridgedale Mall gift card, that way they have lots of options on what they can get with it.

Spending $50ish.

The mall gift cards are great ideas....except they live about 90 minutes south of the cities.

A hooded sweatshirt from any of the places that Surface mentioned.

I would go for an MP3 player or a digital camera. Neither one is going to be top of the line for $50 but just fine for a 13yr old.

As the father of a 13 year old, here are some of the things on her Xmas list.

I toons gift card/Cds

anything to do with the new movie Twilite

Books

gift cards to Wet Seal, Hot Topics, AE etc.

I'd say if you want it to be a hit, do the gift card to one of the malls or just a generic VISA card. She will be begging her parents to go spend it, and you'll be the cool uncle that gave it to her.

Thanks for all the feedback!!!

Those are great ideas....I figured a teenage girl wouldn't be into a Cabelas sweatshirt or hunting stuff. Other than Ambercrombie&Fitch I have never even heard of those other stores, I will have to find them and check them out and see if I can find something "cool" for her.

My wife was just at Eden Prairie mall yesterday. She got an Aeropostale hooded sweatshirt that is normally $50 on sale for $20. That way you could get her more than 1 thing and really be a hero.

Good luck,

Is she Goth? Emo? Does she likes skulls? Skater punk? Avril Lavigne? In addition to the stores already mentioned you might consider a gift certificate (or product) from VANS. A VANS hoodie is always good. There is (was?) a store close to VANS at MOA that had DC and some other skater related stuff. A 2GB Sansa MP3 player is great and is roughly $40. At the $60 level you could work with her to design her own VANS shoes or around $100 you can go with her to Nike and design her own shoes.

Anything twilight related is hot. A gift certificate to Barnes and Nobel is usually appreciated by the ladies.

    • He was talking about updating and upgrading our nuclear weapons,  which aren't related to the middle east.    Getting the 53 brigade combat teams up to readiness standards also will cost money.
    • How much of that $6 trillion do you suppose is military spending?  I’d venture to guess a large amount of it.  Now while he talks about spending so much in the middle east and ignoring issues at home he apparently wants to add an additional $54 billion to the defense budget which will more than likely be funneled back into the middle eat one bomb at a time.   He might make sense in what he says from time to time but then his actions seem immediately contradict his words. Should we believe the words or the actions more?
    •  Decriminalization only makes small possession and usage kinda illegal.    Laws still have to be upheld.   Mexican cartels still would not be allowed to ship tons of cocaine over the boarder. Doctor still can't write false scripts.  Gangs still cannot run drug dens Staus quo     Just push for complete legalization. Regulate through the government. Lower the cost of product.     Cross your fingers you don't get a Russian heroine epidemic.    Freedom restored.
    • "We spend $6 trillion in the Middle East, and we have potholes all over our highways and our roads"

Every now and then it is hard to argue with Trump, the positives aren't many but he is not wrong about everything.
    •     Also, how do you explain the growth rate of U.S. incarcerations since Nixon began the War on Drugs in 1971?   You don't think there is big money involved in prisons?       http://fox6now.com/2017/02/25/private-prison-stocks-up-100-since-president-trumps-win/
    • DALLAS TRADES BENN to Montreal !!!!!!   Jordie   for a 4th round pick and some no-name....Jordie was bad and playing worse lately
    •   He won't ask anyone's advice - that's a big part of the problem.  But judging by his actions and words, he fully intends to return to the criminalization/prison approach.  You know, the method that was a complete failure in the past.   Why wouldn't pharma be worried about heroin and meth?  They make versions of both, so it is direct competition.  There is also real life evidence to suggest that marijuana can be used as a replacement for opioids for pain, so that is a reason for them to be opposed to the legalization of weed, also.  Do you have a better explanation as to why Trump wants to step up enforcement of federal laws against legal purveyors of marijuana according to their state law, rather than simply changing the FDA/DEA classification?                   They would be comparable, except they have spent close to a trillion dollars on the War on Drugs since Nixon signed it into law,
    •   Is this speculation or do you have a source for this information?
    • Without media, you will only get what news from the party in control that they wish to give you. With no freedom of the press, no matter what they say, you will eventually lose more than the 1rst. amendment.  Let's see what happens when the President addresses Congress and if it's a rally speech or a substance speech with policy? If it's just rah-rah??, with the corrupt  media,----make up your own mind.
