Tip up rig

4 posts in this topic

Just wondering...I bought an HT tip up rig today and I'm not quite sure how to use it. It's got two treble hooks connected to a leader that hang next to one another so I don't think it's a quick strike rig. How are they supposed to be used? Sorry, I'm still new to ice fishing. crazy

Sounds like a differently "shaped" QS-rig, but I wouldn't know without seeing it.

It would be nice to check it out on the HT HSOforum, but since their HSOforum needs a bit of work (to say the least), I don't think searching it will help you out either.

Sounds like a "Jimmy Rig". One hook goes behind the head and one back towards the tail. It works well with dead minnows to keep them sitting level in the water.

Ok just a heads up- two trebles on a leader without a bead and blade are illegal in MN. Make sure u put a bead and blade on that rig before putting in MN waters.
