smeese
I own a GPS for my car but have never used one fishing. What would be a good choice that wouls allow me to keep track of some good spots and maybe have some lake maps programmed in. I do not want to spend a ton of money but don't want to go by cheap either. I did try reading through some other threads and could not come up with any clear ideas. Thanks for your suggestions. They are much appreciated.
JimBuck
I don't own one personally....but a H20 C seems to be the ticket for most of my fishing buddies for year round use. You'll love it. You can find good deals if you look around on hsolist or other online retailers...good luck.
mnhunter79
I have the H2OC. with the MN lakemaster chip. Not sure how other brands are but, you won't be disappointed if go with the H2OC & chip.
Sandmannd
I have the B&W H20 and it works great.
riverrat56
If you want to save some money go with the B&W H20, but if you can afford the extra $100 the color is worth the money...
iFishStu
I agree with JimBuck and mnhunter79, you can't go wrong with the H20C and the Lakemaster chip. Good deals can be found if you put in the search efforts.
docc8
I have the garmin GPSMAP 60CSX and love it. I also have the lakemaster chip and would not ice fish without it.
DTro
It’s not too often an occasion that everyone here can agree on a product, but the H2O has been a mainstay for quite a few years and the vast majority agree that it’s a great unit. There are a couple of issues however that people tend to score it negative on:1. Viewing in the sunlight, with the Color unit, you need the backlight which sucks the battery down quick2. The DC power cord likes to quit workingOther than that, the H20/w chip (Either Lakemaster or Navionics) is a tough combination to beat.Because of the popularity, it’s also easy to find accessories and mounts. tip_upclyma
2. The DC power cord likes to quit working Funny you brought that up...my DC cord took a C.R.A.P. last weekend. Anyone know whre I can get a replacement?

thatoneguy
What makes the B&W that much better than the color (besides that it's prettier)?
Steve Eddicus
I'm on my second power cord. Love the unit, but man does that power connection need work.

sarniajeff
I too, own the H2O colour unit with chips.Has been a good unit, very dependable!!Regarding the power cord issues, did you check the fuse inside the plug?Or is it the connection end that is wearing out? Those 2 pins look fairly durable. smeese
What can I plan on putting into one of these color units? SOunds like a good solid amount of backers behind it.

smeese
Thanks Dtro i will look into this on payday. Seems fair enough. Anyone know how I find out what lakes are on the chips?
mnhunter79
If you want the minnesota lake master chip, go to lowrance.com, click on mapping, then click on MN lakemaster chip and it shows a list of all the lakes it has.
Shack
i was gonna order one through dave...only thing that sucks is the lake i spend most of my time fishing isn't on the chips that i can see. I thought that also, until I just bought the chip. Their are many, many lakes besides what is on the list. Navionics Premium has over 10,000 lakes on it. Just cause it is not on the list, does not mean the chip does not cover it.
smeese
I am sold on this item. Thanks for the heads up guys! I may just order an extra cord right away, although the AA feature is nice for backup

robert1965
I hope lowrance makes a new gps. what they have now is good, but seems dated when you look at the garmin line.
