Spearing around St. Cloud

5 posts in this topic

Has anyone been out yet on any lakes near St Cloud? I am thinking of going this weekend but don't know the ice conditions yet. Any tips on good spots? I usually will try Clearwater but am always looking for new spots.

Thanks

If you go to the saint cloud area forum I posted from my experiences this last weekend on about 8-9 lakes for ice conditions and water clarity. It is called random something and ice report...cannot remember exactly but it is recent post.

I will post again after this weekend...going to try a few more lakes that I have not been on yet.

    • So how did you get the livewell overflow out? We've had some problems with ours & have toyed with the idea of replacing it. We don't really want to tear all the floor up though.
    •   Yeah., just not the same as Frankie. Try typing in all CAP'S!
    • Not last year but the year before that we had one that followed us all through deer season.  He would hop up on our knee while we were sitting there, and the little bastard would grab my glove and try to run off with it.  He was almost dinner many nights.
    • Saw this topic and the link to Rock Auto. I ordered up left and right headlight assembly's for my 04 Suburban. They fit right in and even included bulbs. $58.00 to the door delivered for the pair. Cannot beat the price and quality looks fine- better than the old dump I replaced.  Now do I replace the daytime running lens assembly's and fog lamps? Ordered on Thursday and delivered on Saturday 2 days early.
    • They have the 20% off sale(some exclusions) going on this week at Gander. Just need the code from the page, though Rogers just uses one at the counter, so I didn't need it. They got more fishing stuff out now, so I loaded up on some Missle Destroyers!
    • I got the TYC Fog light installed last week. Worked good and looks better than the busted out one! I would of done it months ago if I knew it was that cheap and easy to do.
    •     Oh stop it. How was I to know? You'll just get Dell all fluffed up again and we'll turn THIS into another sillytown.
    • There are a few places to stay that are not too far from the lake.  Hamilton House in Winnipeg Beach is good, a lot of guys stay at the Casino on the East side,  there is a new hotel in Selkirk that is pretty nice and has lots of rooms and breakfast.     Nobody plows roads.  We always watch the weather and snow depth before we go.  We have been lucky to only have to bring ATVs with wheels up there.  Eventually we will have to deal with some deep snow though and bring sleds or tracks up.     There are a few guides that run around on the lake.  Lee Nolden and Blackwater Cats are the 2 I know of.  From what I hear they are pretty accomadating and have all the necessary gear.

    • Winter Storm Watch URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service La Crosse WI 349 AM CST Wed Feb 22 2017 ...Winter Storm Moves In Thursday Night... .Snow...rain...and wind will accompany a winter storm slated to drive across the region Thursday night through Friday night. The precipitation will start out as rain Thursday evening... transitioning to snow or a rain-snow mix later Thursday night, continuing through Friday. Snow is expected Friday night. A brief period of freezing drizzle also possible late Thursday night into Friday morning. Current indications would bring 4 to 8 inches...locally higher...to locations along and north of an Austin to Winona Minnesota...to Black River Falls Wisconsin line. Light icing possible if freezing drizzle develops. Winds become strong and gusty Friday night. Blowing and drifting snow could become a concern in open and unsheltered areas. While confidence is high that this storm will produce significant amounts of snow, where that ultimately falls is not certain. A small shift in the storm track will have large impacts on what falls where, and how much.            I thought he might BE from Iowa....
