Strikemaster Auger Shaft Question?

12 posts in this topic

I have an older Mag 2000 auger with the single chipper blade. Can I buy a Lazer drill unit and put it on my Mag 2000 motorhead? Has anyone tried it? Did it work? Thanks for any help.

Yes. I have the Lazer drill assembly on my Mag2000 right now. The head units on them are actually the same, just different stickers/coloring.

You can get a good priced on the bits from D-Rock in New Brighten. Definitely worth giving them a call.

Go to their HSOforum - it lists all the service locations, might be one close to you that you could get it taken care of. Otherwise, I'm sure you could call SM's service dept and they could send you the part.

The service department at SM seems too be pretty good. I bought a Lazer mag Express last year and had problems with the blades on it so they sent me replacements for free. They would always get jammed right before auger went through.

I have the same situation. I looked into that last year, and i think i found a price of about $120, and didnt really want to put that into an older unit, although it runs great. Let us know if you find a good price.

Be carefull switching blades,if the mag 2000 is one that is made in China the gears might not hold up to the lazor mag blades, check with Strikemaster first. The motors are the same the transmissions are different.Look at boxes in store Mag2000 China ,Lazor mag Sweden

I have the exact setup you are looking to get, and I have had no problems with it. I initially bought a Mag2000 for $150, and got a LazerMag Xpress auger for it. The Mag2000 powerhead will work with both of the augers just fine, as the LazerMag Xpress powerheads use the same LT296 transmission as the Mag2000(from their HSOforum). As far as the China Mag2000/Sweden LazerMag thing goes, I find my LazerMag cuts easier than the chipper auger anyway so I don't foresee any issues (Knock on wood).

    • Looks like we have at least 1 faithless elector so far.
    • Of the 2 candidates that had a chance at winning, Hillary was the only one that had anything resembling a plan to help rural America. Hillary's plan just didn't resonate because it basically was modernizing rural America, and rural America wants to relive a past that is no longer achievable.    Unfortunately a libertarian is probably an even worse choice for rural areas. While a libertarian would cut federal taxes, they also would significantly cut spending to things like infrastructure where rural areas have a disproportionate maintenance cost to local tax revenue ratio. The Libertarian "privatize everything" or "leave it to the states" mentality would likely lead to many roads becoming toll roads in order to pay for maintenance. And those tolls are by and large paid by locals, increasing costs of local goods and making area businesses less competitive.
    • Well, OSU is going to the playoff, and Wisconsin and Michigan are getting at large bowls. That leaves Minnesota as the #4 remaining team.

    • Glad to hear it isn't the local 172 processor people complained about last year.    I was happy to have the needed "facilities" back this year.  Set up, skinned, sliced, diced, vacuum packed and cleaned up in 3.5 hours.  No, that doesn't include the grind, but we do take that in.
    • I go to Petty Bro's in Annandale and have with about the last 8-9 Deer. They usually get it back in about 3 weeks.
