Johnny_Da_Der
I'm sold. I am gonna look for it at all the usual spots and will resort to online if I can't find a pillow pack. On a related note, what sort of gas do you guys run? Premium 92 octane? JP-8?
Jim Almquist
Quote:I'm very timid in using the oil in my new Nils Auger until I get this figured out. That is the only oil that I have ran in my Nils and it runs GREAT. Have you ran a full tank of the new Amsoil mix thru the motor and have you pulled the plug and clean and regap or better yet replace ?As far as how fast it gets shipped out I received mine in 1 day but I would think that anywhere in the 5 state area would be 3 days. I run the non-oxy premium in all of my small engines, but there are many that run 87 and have no issues.
croixflats
Thanks Jim, I'm headed out know to work and I'll pick up a new plug. I'm sure the equipment is just running fuel rich being there is more fuel now than oil. The auger I'm gonna run one more tank for break in this time I'll use The Amsoil at 70/1.I did notice the extra power in the chainsaw and brush saw. The brush saw was actualy quiter if that can can be for a brush saw.
Jim Almquist
I think that that leaner mixture you will get a lot more life out of your plugs.
theoilman
I have never heard of the oil mixture ratio affecting the fuel-air mixture, that is, I have never heard of anyone having to readjust the carb. Changing from Stihl oil to AMSOIL shouldn't cause a problem. Some of the cheap oils will leave excessive carbon that can cause problems. An entirely separate problem: with the new (2007 and newer) larger hp augers, the EPA requirements are such that most of these are fix jetted with little or no adjustment. But they are designed for optimum fuel-air mixture at 70 deg F. The problem with an auger is the normal operating temperature of an auger can easily be -20 deg. Real cold air will cause a lean fuel-air mixture and can burn a piston and a problem later in the season. The best I can fugure is that at least 1 auger manufacturer is rejetting all the motors on their machines for colder temps, but at least 1 is using standard mixture jets - no I don't know which. Some dealers will rejet.
theoilman
If you ordered on-line through any of my links, ordered before noon anywhere in Minnesota should be 1 or 2 business day shipping. Remote areas of ND are running 3 business day shipping. It comes from the Superior, WI distribution center. If you don't have it within this please give me a call or e-mail direct and I'll be glad to help locate the problem. If you gave them your e-mail address with the on-line order you should have automatically received UPS tracking and expected delivery in an e-mail.
