Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

Time to re-spool and I thought I would see what everyone likes and why?

I bought 3# test Shakespeare Cajun Red Ice line last winter. It is a good mono. It had minimal memory and remained quite flexible in the cold. It is cheap too at $3.29 for 110 yards.

Firm believer in using 6 pound trilene 6 xt for eyes, and 4 pound trilene xl for pannies no need to buy ice line summer line works great I like to spool the 6 pound on a shimano 2000 or 2500 and put on a decent sized walleye rod and the 4 pound on the smaller reels, I like 12 pound stren for the tip ups

That sounds like it could possibly be operator error as in it wasn't spooled on tight enough.

To each their own...

I'm about in the same boat, though I stick with 6lb xl instead of t. It doesn't stiffen up as much. I do pull off a good chunk of the end before season, though, just in case.

I have 2# Trilene ice line on one, and 4# on the other. I picked up a box of the red to try when I need to respool one of them.

I just picked up a bunch of fireline crystal from a buddy for $2.00 a spool. He closed down his icefishing HSOforum and what he had leftover.

I've used it during the summer and this will be my first year using it during the winter. Can't wait........I think I might go out this week for the 1st time.

The line to compare against is Trilene micro ice. Anything that can do better than that is kudos. Anything that doesn't perform as well isn't worth your time or money.

There are many regular open water lines that can perform decent in cold freezing weather. Understand that every line will become stiff when exposed to water and freezing air. Best way to prevent that is getting a line that repels water better. That's where Trilene Micro Ice comes in as an advantage over the regular XL line. Many copolymer lines are formulated better to provide even better performance then Micro Ice. Something like Gamma ESP ice line excels in this area. Notably Flourocarbon has better water repellent properties than nylon, but the trade off is flourocarbon is more stiff as well as more abrasion resistant. That's where P-line Flouroice comes in.

    • agreed i use an app called geo gone that scrubs all data. I have locations turned off but also scrub every photo just encase.
    •   I am not a big Football guy but feel sorry for those folks as well.  IMO if you are just wanting to watch some good hockey with no desire to Win the cup then you are just a casual Fan and that is all good....but I see it differently....it all starts with Hope. As far as the crazy talk this is a quote directly from Liepold out of the Pioneer Press at the start of this season “Anything short of winning the Stanley Cup would be a disappointment,” Leipold said. So my guess is he's getting impatient too, he wants to bring a Cup to MN, he sees we have not been improving, and IMO he's setting the table to give Fletch his walking papers if in fact we don't make a deep run this year.

    • Starting with the 2018 model year (released in March 2017), all 8' wide Yetti's have a 72" x 80" rear ramp door. Many common interior finishes reduce the width down to 70". There are 17'+V front and 21'+V front tandem hydraulic models available. In addition, these Traxx Editions (toy haulers) have adequate hauling capacity for your UTV plus gear.    Good luck on your search!    https://yettioutdoors.com/products/#traxx
    •   This ^^^^^^^^^^^^^   I think the difference is that when message boards like this one were more popular, the info was archived in a user friendly format. Anyone could find the info about Lake Waconia because it was cataloged and searchable under a heading or search terms that made sense. Now the info being offered in groups on Facebook is just a bunch of bits here and there and if you don't catch it when it is first posted, the chances are you will never see it.
    •   yes this is a good point. But also remember to not be like a particular poster that used to frequent the forums who alleged to catch the same exact fish on different casts. But the exif data showed that the 2 pics were taken within a second of each other and the b.s flag was thrown.
    • Been on facebook? there's plenty of chatter on there.
    • Any suggestions?   I'm running out of ideas. My wife is working today but I am home in the snowstorm all day. We just had chicken wild rice soup last night and chili not too long ago so no soups and I don't feel like standing outside by the grill or smoker in this weather so what should I make for supper?
    • From Strikemaster.....   This size blade has been discontinued since 1981. Wow.......so my auger is at best only 37 years old.......If it could only tell stories.
