Some Traditions Must End......................

16 posts in this topic

Detroit Lions EVERY Thanksgiving. Am I alone here??? Cowboys are supposedly Americas team, that's fine. I am OK with them playing every year. But something needs to be done with the other game. I am all for giving it to an AFC team. Patriots, maybe? Anyone have any other suggestions?

BTW, the reason I say the Patriots is because it is kind of symbolic Americana, and Thanksgiving happened in New England, so it kind of makes sense.

I don't think any team should have a lock on Thanksgiving Day games. Either rotate them or treat it like Monday night games where they try to come up with match-ups that have some national interest.

I think it goes to back in the day when it started. The cowgirls and kitties were the only teams interested in this. So it was setup that they would host forever I guess. It would be nice to change that.

Oh I don't know, you are probably only going to make a couple of thousand fans sick that day. I don't think they've sold out yet this year have they?

I like the tradition.

And, from what I heard, they were the only two teams to agree to it many years ago.

I say, let the tradition win!!

Maybe Detroit will finally win one!!

It should be fun to watch the fans with the brown paper bags over their heads. You know your team stinks when fans do this.

I think the Saints, or should I say the old Aints fans started that back in the day.

    • Same here. And look how well twetter is working for da prez!!
    • All forums have a certain shelf life. There is only so long that the debate over Ford/ Chevy, Vex/Marcin. Eskimo/ Strike master, Ice Castle / Yeti can keep your attention. After a while most just slip away. New people are using social apps more that the old forum formats and that is that. The only thing saving silly town is that politics is the gift that keeps on giving.
    • Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham is among GOP leaders saying Republicans and Democrats now need to work together on a fix. Over the weekend, Rep. Betty McCollum and Sen. Al Franken – both Democrats — said they agreed with Graham. “That is what we need to do,” Franken said on WCCO Sunday Morning. “Speaker Ryan said at the end of this process that the Affordable Care Act is the the law of the land. We need to address what’s wrong with the Affordable Care act, what isn’t working.” Immediately after pulling the bill, Trump said he would be willing to work with Democrats on health care.     Too big to fail.....deja vu

    •     I saw a couple of statements in the media yesterday from Dem leadership to the effect that they would be interested in working with Ryan on this.  One from our very own Al Franken.  So that tells me they most likely already are.
    •   The 20" box fan thread was very informative, and lasted for years....
    • Possibly but it seems like the Democrats are now in the beginning stages of floating single payer. Lots of talk on that since the neocons dropped the ball
    • Kinda like the Eskimo thread on I.S. some years back?
