Williamson

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- Former first-round draft pick Troy Williamson never really got along with coach Brad Childress in Minnesota.

His feelings haven't changed since leaving there, either.

Williamson, now in Jacksonville, said Wednesday he lost respect for his former coach last year and would like to "duke it out" with him when the Jaguars host the Vikings on Sunday.

"We can meet on the 50-yard line and we can go at it," Williamson said.

The 6-foot-1, 200-pound receiver said he liked his chances against Childress, too, especially with a few inches and at least 10 pounds on the coach. Williamson even said he would fight with both hands tied behind his back.

Childress countered by saying, "He must not be aware there's a buffer zone between the opponents."

Childress initially said he wasn't "biting" on Williamson's comments, but when pressed about his height and weight on a conference call, he responded: "Do you need my reach? I'm not like a woman; I'll give you my weight. It's 190 pounds of twisted steel and rompin', stompin' dynamite. Is that enough humor for you?"

Perfect, coach.

Now back to the fight. Williamson didn't say whether he wanted a boxing match, a WWE-style showdown or maybe something edgier, like a mixed martial arts cage match.

Either way, Vikings defensive end Jared Allen knows who he would bet on if there was a River City Rumble.

"Coach Childress is a tough-minded guy," Allen said. "And he has a bad ... mustache."

Please do, then we can get a new coach for that pathetic guy

If that would happen that would be the first thing ol' alligator arms got right in his NFL carrier.

Childress could throw a punch, might be the first thing Williamson has caught in years.

Williamson is good at catching punches remember a couple years back at the club?

I don't like either one of these guys, but how can the NFL allow a player to make such comments?

Jared Allen is right. The Mustache probably would take Willy Drop the Ball Wonkason out pretty fast.

Maybe he can hit Childress hard enough that he gets brain damage and they hire Bill Cowher as our new coach

TW still hasn't figured out that he's TW.

He should shut up. At least he got a chance to fail with the Vikes. Down there he's mostly inactive.

Is Williamson even active now? I know he wasn't for a while. The guy couldn't catch a cold, he has no business being an NFL reciever.

He won't be active for the Vikes game. He has 4 catches for 27 yards and a td so far this year. What a waste of a draft pick.

I am looking at that, and I am guessing you are a Packers fan and will say Erin Rodgers

BTW, the draft that year was horrible, 1-10:

Alex Smith

Ronnie Brown

Braylon Edwards

Cedric Benson

Cadillac Williams

PacMan Jones

Troy Williamson

Antrel Rolle

Carlos Rogers

Mike Williams

I think Edwards is the only one that has gone to the Pro Bowl, maybe I am wrong, but I think so, and this year he has dropped a ton of passes. Jones has the ability, but needs to keep his nose clean, and I kinda doubt that will ever happen.

Braylon Edwards-Pro Bowl, but can't hang onto ball this year

Cedric Benson-trouble maker cut from Bears

Cadillac Williams-almost suffered career ending knee injury

PacMan Jones-another trouble maker, original team traded him

Troy Williamson-can't catch a ball, original team traded him

Antrel Rolle-been moved around from CB to free safety

Carlos Rogers-missed most of 07 knee injury

Mike Williams-3 diff teams(lions, raiders and titans)now out of NFL

Didn't the Lions draft a WR like 3 or 4 years in a row in the first round?

I kind of like the idea of a mixed martial arts cage match. 6.gif

    • Lilac blooms are here, just haven't opened. Hearing some reports of good finds in the Houston and Lewiston areas of MN. I checked some new public areas today on the MN side. Could be decent later but too cold and wet right now. Will check some early season spots tomorrow but won't hope for much with the cold weather.

    • You might be able to figure things out this week.  How big is your sump basket?  Is the  pump kicking in now?  Sit there for 15 minutes and count the number of times it cycles.  That should give you a decent idea on how much water is coming in.  Then figure out about how high the water has to go before it flows by gravity.  The spec for the pump will say something like that it can pump 2,000 gph at 10 feet of lift.  (the gph drops dramatically the higher it has to pump the water).  The answer to your specifics will give you an idea of how big of a pump you need.  If you match the size of the pump as close as possible to the amount of water your will face you can maximize the amount of time the battery backup will last.   Faced with this problem I took a standard boat sump pump and modified it so I could hook up a garden hose.  The I took an old shop extension cord and wired the pump so I could hook it up to a car in the garage.  So just prior to having Noah float by I could hook things up in the garage and be good to go for as long as I had gas in the car to pump up the battery.   Now that I am adult I bought a generator and wired the house to take care of things.
    • Inevitably at least twice each season I will leave the house, drive 45 minutes and walk some of my favorite grouse spots for hours and hours, seeing nothing.  Admitting defeat on that day, I will drive 45 minutes back home, only to find a covey of birds in the driveway...
