Best First Flasher!!!

Lane

Recommended Posts

I bought my first flasher two years ago and got the VX-1. I went with it because it still has the bottom zoom feature where as the fl-8 doesn't.

If I were to do it over again today. I would be looking at the Humminbird ICE 35.

I have a marcum lx-3 and use to have a vexilar fl-8 and I prefer the marcum however my fl-8 was 12 years old and didn't have the newer features that you find on them all now. I would suggest that you go to the FM sponser Pro Fishing Supply and check out the deal they have on a new marcum VX-1 ($199). A very good price to get you going.

I will second this reccomendation!

If you can afford to spend a little more get the Marcum LX-3 or LX-5 and you will never be sorry!

Get a used Vex FL-8 for $150 or so, or find an old Eagle 60 flasher for $50 and rig it up with a trolling motor ducer, I started with a Lowrance Green box in the mid 1980's--thats all i could afford at the time. Almost any "flasher" will work, good luck,

Can anyone explain the differences in the VX-1 and the VX-1 Pro? The Pro seems really nice, but I like the discount price on the VX-1 right now. I noticed it has 2.5" separation, isn't that a lot? I've never owned one before and noticed a lot of the better ones are at .5"

the VX-1p has more power, and the new "Tuned" tranceducer. So it will have better target separation, as well as more power to use for interfierence issues. I think it also has more IR modes.

Deitz is correct. And the VX-1P comes with a soft pack too.
