perchking
Be safe everybody when you hit the wood tomorrow. Bundle up because the high in the Western UP is 27 with 15-20mph winds coming from the NW....
Nate McVey
How did everybody do? I've heard mixed reports from the western UP....some camps getting multiple bucks and others not seeing any. Let's see the pictures of opening weekend deer! I'm heading up on Thursday, so hopefully I can post a couple when I get back.
lakerunner
No bucks out of "Da Buckin Cold Camp" located just outside of Houghton. I hunted from the 20th-29th and only saw a few does.
perchking
Lake,It was pretty slow here also in Gogebic County. I has 4 different 8's coming in the Tuesday before opener then they just vanished. I am guess the wolves didn't help me at all, we had tracks all season long. lakerunner
We didn't have much as far as wolves but the coyotes were everywhere--one of our hunters shot 3 in 2 days out of his deer stand.I did see extremely great grouse and hare numbers--especially seeing as how I hunt in the hdwd country. I saw close to 50 grouse and probably 20 wabits or so--this is the best that I've seen in the 10 years that I lived in Houghton and the last 7 years that I've be going back to visit. Nate McVey
We (my dad and I) ended the rifle season with one spike. It is the first year out of 7 that I have not taken a buck. Lots of wolf tracks and last years winter kill didn't help the situation.
