GPS Chip Question

Recommended Posts

I just purchesed an Lowrance XOG. Eventually I want to get a lake chip for it. Where do you store Downlaodable maps if you have a Lakemaster chip? Do you store the Lakemaster Maps on a bigger chip with the satelite images? How is this done.

The map data on the map chip is permanently stored on the map chip, there is no uploading or downloading it to your PC, your XOG, or to a bigger chip.

The maps are stored on the chip and your XOG reads them off the chip. Take the map chip out of the XOG and the map chip data is no longer in the XOG, put the map chip back in the XOG and it will read the data on the map chip.

The downloadable maps that you can transfer to your XOG are not lake contour maps. Once they are transferred to your XOG they function like a background map. You can set the unit to read from the background / downloaded maps, or from whatever map chip you happen to be using in your XOG.

Does that answer your question?
