I'm looking for a simple security system. Kinda want a DIY system with now contracts. I have found a couple, but want to know if others use any they recommend. My main consern is knowing if one of my kids opens a door to go outside when I'm not around or in bed.

Try this one Shane. It's about as DIY as your going to get. Pretty inexpensive too!

How to Install a Home Security System in the South

1. Go to a second-hand store and buy a pair of men's used size 14-16 work boots.

2. Place them on your front porch, along with copies of Guns and Ammo and Soldier of Fortune Magazines.

3. Put a few giant dog dishes next to the boots and magazines.

4. Leave a note on your door that reads:

Hey Bubba - Me, Big Jim, Duke and Slim went for more ammunition. Back in an hour.

Don't mess with the pit bulls - they attacked the mailman this morning and messed him up real bad. I don't think Killer took part in it, but it was hard to tell from all the blood. Anyway, I locked all four of 'em in the house. Better wait outside.

OOPS, didn't read all your post, someone said you can get a door alarm at Dollar Stores that are pretty loud. I have 3 little ones and worry about the same thing, and am thinking of putting a simple lock high up on the door.
